IT System Technician – DHA Medical Treatment Facility Support
Overview
Metrics is seeking an IT System Technician to support the Information Management/IT Department at the 31st Medical Group (31st MDG) located at Aviano Air Base, Italy. This position plays a critical role in delivering communication and IT services across the DHA Medical Treatment Facility (MTF). The selected candidate will serve as the on-site technical resource for telephony systems, customer service requests, IT asset management, and general desktop support – ensuring continuity of care and system functionality for healthcare delivery teams.
Core Responsibilities
· Telephony Support & Troubleshooting
Serve as the primary technician for MTF telephony support. Provide first-level troubleshooting for phone hardware/software, configure and maintain extensions and voicemail accounts, facilitate installation/relocation of devices, escalate issues as needed, and maintain related documentation.
· Customer Service Operations
Act as the front-line responder for IT service requests, ensuring timely and courteous support through phone, email, and ticketing systems. Manage user in-processing/out-processing requirements, perform account unlocks/password resets, and follow up to confirm issue resolution.
· IT Inventory & Asset Management
Maintain accurate documentation of all IT equipment using DHA systems including DMLSS. Track asset movements, conduct periodic audits, manage disposal of surplus items, and ensure compliance with license tracking and DHA policies.
· General IT Support Services
Aid in workstation setup, software installations, and network troubleshooting. Maintain organized workspaces that align with DHA IT security standards and participate in ongoing training opportunities. Additional technical support tasks may be delegated by senior staff.
Key Qualifications
· Education & Experience
A high school diploma or equivalent is required; an associate's degree in a related field is preferred. Candidates must have at least one year of experience in IT technical support or telephony system administration, with demonstrated exposure to IT asset management.

– CompTIA Network+
· Technical & Domain Expertise
Must possess hands-on experience with telephony systems and basic IT support practices, including familiarity with help desk operations, IT ticketing platforms, and inventory lifecycle practices.
· Skills & Attributes
– Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
– Excellent communication and customer service abilities.
– Ability to lift and move IT hardware weighing up to 25 pounds.
– Must work independently while supporting collaborative team operations.
– Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other common desktop software.
· Compliance
Must follow DHA IT security policies and complete all required federal training.
