IRCCS San Raffaele Scientific Institute
in Milan–Italy is looking for a
young motivated researcher
to join the Cell Adhesion Laboratory directed by Prof. Ivan de Curtis.
The candidate will work on a project aimed at the analysis of molecular‑cellular mechanisms implicated in tumor cell invasion, to identify new targets to interfere with the formation of metastases. The project financed by AIRC focuses on the functional characterization of a molecular network that regulates the protrusive activity of invasive tumor cells, including the scaffold proteins Liprin‑a1 and ERC1 and regulatory enzymes undergoing liquid‑liquid phase separation to regulate the invasive properties of breast cancer cells.
Responsibilities:
Investigate mechanisms linking Liprin‑a1 and ERC1 proteins to the organization and function of the migratory activity of cancer cells.
Learn and apply cloning to prepare wt/mutant constructs.
Perform high‑resolution confocal microscopy on fixed and live cells.
Execute biochemical/molecular cell biology approaches, including transfections with siRNAs and plasmids for the KO (CRISPR/Cas9) of endogenous proteins.
Run functional assays to assess effects on tumor cell invasion.
Qualifications:
Graduate (Master) or post‑doctoral degree with strong motivation to learn approaches applied to cancer cell biology.
Experience with cloning, microscopy, siRNA/transfection, CRISPR/Cas9, and functional invasion assays preferred.
Strong motivation and willingness to contribute to an international research environment.
Application Process:
A CV with name(s) and contact(s) of at least one referee.
A brief description of known techniques and previous research experience.
A motivation letter describing interest in joining the lab and previous experimental experiences.
Work details:
Type of contract: Fellowship/CoCoCo.
Duration: 12 months renewable.
Place of work: San Raffaele Scientific Institute, Dibit, via Olgettina 58, 20132 Milano.
