We’re thrilled to bring Butternut Box to Italy and we’re searching for an inspirational Operational Leader who will be a foundational part of our launch in Italy, based in Milan. You will play a critical role in setting up and managing our third-party fulfilment operation in Italy while staying true to our core values of care, quality, and customer delight. This role focuses on building, leading, and growing. You’ll own the relationship with our third-party order fulfilment partner and delivery providers. As our Operations Manager for Italy, you’ll have the chance to build something special from the ground up—making a real difference for dogs and their owners while being part of a growing, supportive, and values-driven team. In this role, you can expect to... Take full ownership of Butternut’s operational performance in Italy, ensuring a best-in-class experience for our Italian customers. Collaborate closely with the Marketing and Sales teams and run an S&OP session to align supply and demand. Work with the Customer Love team to drive improvements based on customer feedback. Set up and manage the daily operations of our third-party fulfilment partner in Piemonte, including receiving finished goods, picking, packing, and dispatching orders. Oversee last-mile delivery performance to ensure timely and accurate deliveries. Implement and optimise KPIs such as OTIF, packing accuracy, and delivery experience, aiming for a world-class OTIF of 98.5%. Collaborate with the 3PL site management to build an efficient, scalable operational model. Manage volume forecasts and ensure accurate stock levels at the fulfilment partner. Coordinate inbound logistics from the UK, including import and customs clearance into Italy. Focus relentlessly on the customer experience, making operational decisions with the customer in mind. Share learnings and implement initiatives with other European Operations Managers. Support the launch of new products and operational initiatives in Italy. Bring experience in fast-paced operational environments, especially with third-party logistics and fulfilment models. Manage 3PL relationships and hold partners accountable for high performance standards. Be a self-starter, comfortable with ambiguity, problem-solving, and detail-oriented work. Exhibit outstanding communication and relationship management skills, representing Butternut in Italy. Be highly organised, data-driven, and interpret performance metrics to inform decisions.
