Automation Technician, Reliability Maintenance EngineeringThe Automation Technician plays a key role in ensuring the availability, reliability, and efficiency of automated systems within our IST2 Fulfillment Center. This position is responsible for troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of automation and control systems, including PLCs, sensors, conveyors, and machineries. The technician will work closely with engineers and other RME teams to support continuous improvement initiatives and minimize downtime.Key Job ResponsibilitiesPerform troubleshooting and diagnostics on automation systems (PLCs, SCADA, HMI, sensors, etc.)Support preventive and corrective maintenance on control panels, automation components, and field instrumentation.Collaborate with engineers and other teams to implement process improvements and automation upgrades.Assist in root cause analysis for automation-related failures and develop corrective action plans.Document all work performed in the CMMS system, including parts used and time spent.Participate in commissioning and startup of new automation projects and equipment.Ensure compliance with safety policies, procedures, and standards.Basic QualificationsTechnical Diploma in Automation, Mechatronics, Electrical, or related fieldMinimum 3 years of hands-on experience with industrial automation systemsSolid understanding of PLCs (Siemens or similar), sensors, and motor controlsAbility to read and interpret electrical and automation schematicsProficient in using diagnostic tools and industrial communication protocols (e.g., Modbus, Profibus, Ethernet/IP)Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or on-call as neededPreferred QualificationsExperience in high-volume manufacturing, logistics, or energy facilitiesHands-on experience with PLC systemsKnowledge of safety systems (e.g., E-stop circuits, safety relays, SIL-rated devices)Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)Strong problem-solving and analytical skillsAbility to work independently and as part of a cross-functional teamAmazon is an equal opportunity employer and does not discriminate on the basis of protected veteran status, disability, or other legally protected status.
