Role OverviewThe Energy Marshal / Senior Authorized Person (SAP) is a critical safety and control authority on a data centre construction project. The role is responsible for overseeing and implementing the Hazardous Energy Control Programme, ensuring that all electrical isolation and energisation activities are carried out safely, systematically, and in full compliance with site procedures and industry standards.Key ResponsibilitiesLead and manage the Lock Out / Tag Out (LOTO) programme across the projectAct as the primary authority for LOTO procedures, ensuring all isolation points are identified, locked, tagged, and verified prior to the commencement of worksOversee and control all energisation activities, ensuring no systems are unintentionally over-energisedCoordinate and supervise the energisation of critical infrastructure including switchgear, generators, and UPS systemsWork closely with commissioning teams during system testing and energisation phasesConduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with electrical safety standards and proceduresReview and verify documentation relating to isolation, energisation, and permit systemsEnforce safe systems of work across all contractors and subcontractors on siteAct as the key liaison between construction teams, contractors, and client operations teams to ensure safe and efficient system handoverMaintain full accountability for electrical safety, risk mitigation, and adherence to project protocolsRequirementsProven experience working within data centre environments (essential)Previous experience as an Energy Marshal or Senior Authorized Person (SAP)Strong knowledge of LOTO (Lock Out / Tag Out) and hazardous energy control systemsIn-depth understanding of electrical commissioning and energisation processesDemonstrated ability to manage high-risk activities with a strong focus on safety and complianceExcellent communication and coordination skills
