Your mission
As ICT Infrastructure Engineer (Windows) you will administer, optimise and secure Windows‑based systems within our ICT infrastructure. The role ensures stability, performance and scalability of mission‑critical Windows environments, supporting research, administration and enterprise operations. You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams to implement best practices, automate processes, enhance system resilience and report to the Core Services Manager.

* Managing, configuring and maintaining Windows Server environments to ensure high availability and performance;
* Implementing system hardening and security best practices in collaboration with CyberSecurity and Digital Services teams;
* Monitoring system health, performance and capacity planning to prevent service degradation;
* Ensuring compliance with ICT governance policies, security frameworks and industry standards;
* Ensuring best practices for Windows Server roles (DNS, DHCP, File Services, IIS, Remote Desktop Services, etc.);
* Administering and optimising Active Directory (AD), Azure AD (Entra ID), Group Policies (GPOs) and Identity Access Management (IAM) solutions;
* Implementing and managing Single Sign‑On (SSO), Multi‑Factor Authentication (MFA) and Role‑Based Access Control (RBAC) to strengthen security;
* Automating user provisioning and deprovisioning to enhance efficiency and compliance;
* Overseeing Windows patch management strategies to ensure security and minimise vulnerabilities;
* Implementing and maintaining endpoint security solutions and audit policies in collaboration with CyberSecurity team;
* Conducting regular security assessments and compliance checks to meet regulatory requirements;
* Diagnosing and resolving complex Windows system and infrastructure‑related issues;
* Performing root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurring incidents;
* Collaborating with ICT teams to troubleshoot critical infrastructure‑related incidents efficiently;
* Maintaining up‑to‑date documentation for Windows system configurations and procedures;
* Identifying and implementing improvements for system performance, security and reliability;
* Contributing to knowledge sharing within the ICT team, ensuring best practices are followed.
What you’ll bring
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology or a related field;
* Minimum of 3 years in Windows system administration, IT infrastructure management, or a similar role;
* Deep expertise in Windows Server (2016/2019/2022) administration;
* Strong knowledge of Active Directory, Group Policies, DNS, DHCP and Windows‑based authentication;
* Experience in PowerShell scripting and automation;
* Understanding of networking concepts, firewalls and security best practices;
* Good English communication skills, both written and spoken.
Preferred
* Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related field;
* Azure Administrator Associate badge;
* Windows Server Hybrid Administrator Associate badge;
* ITIL certification;
* Previous experience with a similar role in another research institute.

Salary: up to €52,000, depending on seniority.
