The Senior Employee Relations (ER) Manager ensures Amazon’s readiness considering forthcoming EU regulations and manages trade unions, employee engagement, and organizational transformation across the EU. This role is part of the Employee Experience and Relations (EXR) team, reporting to the EU EXR Risk, Project & Compliance leader. The role requires close collaboration with stakeholders at country, Business lines (BL), pan-EU, and global level (notably the Global Labor Relations Team). The objective is to enhance compliance, drive positive employee engagement on essential priorities, and increase Amazon’s agility in managing ambiguous and complex situations.
This role can be performed from France, Italy, Spain, Germany, Luxembourg, or the UK, with travel up to 30% of the time, mostly within the EU.
Key responsibilities
* EU REGULATORY COMPLIANCE AND COORDINATION: Coordinate the EXR effort related to forthcoming EU regulation, including:
o Working with Public Policy to identify approved and emerging regulations
o Conducting impact analysis at pan-EU level and supporting gap analysis across EU countries
o Coordinating the preparation required at country level
o Being accountable for the EXR working backward plan of the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD) and Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD)
* THIRD-PARTY STRATEGY MANAGEMENT: Lead the pan-EU strategy for third-party activities at EU federation level
o Maintain up-to-date information and external insights about relevant developments and trends
o Develop engagement strategies in collaboration with Public Policy and Public Relations
o Provide reactive and proactive recommendations for third-party management, notably in case of significant development (UK reform)
* EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT AND PROUDNESS CAMPAIGNS
o Design and deliver training actions to enhance ER capacities within the HR and Senior leaders’ functions
o Collaborate with Public Relations and Internal Operations Communications to design and develop campaigns that improve employee pride in Amazon
o Lead “test & learn” initiatives, creative thinking, and action to improve employee sentiment
* LABOR RELATIONS FRAMEWORK DEVELOPMENT
o Develop the LR framework for major transformation cycles (e.g., site lifecycle milestones) to increase pan-EU standardization, lower costs, and reduce time to deliver while enhancing stakeholder and Associate satisfaction
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
* Bachelor’s degree in Employment Law, Industrial Relations, or a related field
* Experience in Employees and Labor Relations management with a pan-EU scope and in managing complex stakeholder relationships in a matrix environment, including third-party engagement at EU federation level
* Fluency in written and spoken English (CEFR C2) and at least one other European language (e.g., French, Spanish, Italian, German)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
* Master’s degree in a related field
* Analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate complex ER concepts into actionable strategies
* Communication and influencing skills to engage effectively at all levels and drive resolutions
* Ability to produce high-quality written communications that analyze problems and move solutions from concept to execution
* Ability to work independently in fast-paced, ambiguous environments
