Skills:
Higher-level vocational training in Telecommunications, Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related discipline with a minimum of 2 years' relevant post-qualification experience; alternatively, a secondary educational qualification with at least 4 years of relevant experience gained within the past 8 years.
Basic knowledge of transmission-related principles, including electromagnetic antenna theory, Eb/N0 versus BER, EIRP calculations, Fourier analysis, phase, vector and spectrum analysis, modulation techniques, error coding theory, and Fresnel zones.
Basic mechanical and electrical engineering skills applicable to deployable terminals, including elevation and azimuth motor drives, servo drives, and mechanical and electrical sensors and transducers.
Knowledge of basic fibre-optic measurement techniques for single-mode and multi-mode fibre on industrial and/or military tactical cabled networks.
Understanding of IP fundamentals for local and wide area networking.
Experience reading complex electrical and mechanical system diagrams and applying fault-finding techniques on UHF- and SHF-based deployable transmission systems.
Fault-finding experience on complex HF, VHF, UHF, and SHF transmission systems, including systems with varied antenna configurations.
Experience recognising digital modulation techniques (PSK, FSK, ASK) and a range of analogue and angle modulation techniques.
Experience performing measurements on antennas and associated sub-units.
Experience configuring data test equipment to validate radio-based transmission systems in accordance with IP and data communication protocols.
Experience reconfiguring satellite systems in line with defined parameters, including timing, error coding, modulation, data rate, bandwidth, and frequency offsets.
Experience applying non-ionising radiation safety measurements.
Advanced understanding of power cabling and associated subsystems, grounding and bonding, copper-based structured cabling, advanced fibre-based structured cabling, and working knowledge of fibre-optic modems, line drivers, and media converters.
Strong working knowledge of system and network troubleshooting techniques using complex and diverse test equipment and software tools.
Activities:
Perform third-line maintenance on deployable and static CIS systems, including diagnosis, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of Transmission and SATCOM systems.
Support overhauls, modifications, refurbishments, and upgrades to transmission systems as directed by supervision.
Assist with planning, synchronisation, scheduling, and tracking of CSSC assets for corrective and preventive maintenance of NATO CIS equipment in line with Central, Operational, and Deployable SLAs.
Support scheduling and tracking of CSSC activities for operations, exercises, projects, Static CIS, and Deployable CIS (DCIS).
Assist in directing, supervising, planning, coordinating, monitoring, and reporting on technical work, ensuring compliance with Agency, industrial, and/or military standards.
Coordinate with the Resource Management Branch (RMB) on execution, planning, technical, logistical, and asset-related matters.
Conduct detailed analysis of system deficiencies and provide technical recommendations aligned with established standards to ensure operational readiness.
Monitor and manage assigned technical tasks to ensure timely execution; provide technical and logistical advice to senior management and initiate corrective actions where required.
Support the development of design, configuration, and operational documentation; implement procedures, tools, and techniques for system performance monitoring and reporting.
Identify, investigate, document, report, and support corrective actions for CIS equipment discrepancies in accordance with NCI Agency directives.
Support KPI achievement by monitoring performance against agreed quality and delivery targets and providing ongoing performance feedback.
Deputise for higher-grade staff when required.
Perform other duties as required.
