We are a fast-growing, innovative startup looking for a Backend Developer (all levels) to join our team and help us build AI agents.
Your mission: create integrations that make our AI agent accessible as a voice assistant (via Twilio), and through email and WhatsApp.
Responsibilities
* Design, develop, and maintain backend services and APIs
* Build integrations to connect the AI agent with external communication channels:
* • Voice: integrate telephony via Twilio (calls, speech input/output)
* • Messaging: integrate with WhatsApp and email systems
* Implement and optimize real-time communication flows using WebSockets
* Ensure scalability, reliability, and security of backend services
* Collaborate with frontend and AI engineering teams to deliver seamless multi-channel experiences
Requirements:
Core Tech Stack
* Node.js
* Hono (or similar frameworks like Express.js)
* WebSockets
* TypeScript
* Postgres (schema design, query optimization, migrations)
* REST APIs
Integration Skills
* Twilio (voice, SMS, call routing, WhatsApp)
* Email integration (like SMTP)
* Experience designing robust webhook flows and handling external APIs
Bonus Skills
* Experience or strong interest in AI/Context Engineering (OpenAI APIs, RAG systems)
* Docker, CI/CD pipelines, cloud services
* Event-driven architectures (RabbitMQ, etc.)
Soft Skills
* Flexible and adaptable in a startup environment
* Strong problem-solving and debugging skills
* Passion for backend development and integrations
* Self-discipline for remote work, with openness to regular in-person meetings
Location
* Must be able to attend monthly in-person meetings in northern Italy
