Inside the Technology & Innovation - New Mission Design Area in Rome, we are looking for a Space Mission Designer & Developer.
The selected candidate will be included in the Telespazio Technology & Innovation team responsible for the following main activities:
Analysis, Design and Modelling of Innovative Space Missions
Trade-offs between promising space technologies applicable to the missions of interest
Simulation and Proof of Concepts of the innovative space solutions
AR/VR/MR Interactive Simulations
Support to the End2End system development
Degree and Seniority:
Degree/PhD in Telecommunication or Aerospace engineering – Intermediate
Technical skills and IT tools:
RF Payload Architecture: deep understanding of transponders, High Power Amplifiers (TWTA/SSPA), frequency converters, and complex antenna systems (e.g., Active Phased Arrays and Beamforming) relevant to satellite, spacecraft and ground terminals
Link Budget Analysis: Mastery of calculating the Eb/N0 considering atmospheric loss, rain fade, and cosmic interference
Standards & Protocols: Expertise in DVB-S2X for high-throughput data, CCSDS and SDA protocols for ESA/NASA missions
Modulation & Coding: knowledge of advanced schemes like 16APSK/32APSK and error correction (LDPC, Turbo Codes)
Optical Communications: knowledge in design of Inter-Satellite Links (ISL) and Optical Ground Stations (OGS) for LEO/GEO constellations and Moon/Mars communications.
Solid programming capability in Python and MATLAB
Additional preferred technical skills are:
Knowledge of orbital mechanics for mission analysis and design of space missions and experience with tools for trajectory design and mission simulation (e.g. STK / GMAT).
Knowledge of the System Engineering & Model-Based System Engineering approaches to apply along project life-cycle, from requirement management, architecture and design definition to development and verification/validation activities
Interest in AR/VR/MR technologies for the development of immersive simulations, training tools, or interactive system visualizations
