PpDirect message the job poster from Fuel Tech, Inc. /p pResponsible for day-to-day project engineering activities. May also be involved in the installation, start-up and troubleshooting of the equipment at the project site. Works closely with his/her supervisor and may be functionally assigned to a Project Manager for a specific project. During the project life cycle the project engineer may be required to generate submittal documents, conduct shop inspections to assess ongoing progress with outside vendors and generate reports. /p h3Essential Duties and Responsibilities /h3 ul liPrepares detailed project engineering designs for small to medium projects including development of the flow and pressure tables for the process flow diagram, pipe sizing, instrumentation selection, and pump and control valve sizing and selection. Ensures that all equipment and services meet applicable codes and standards for design, safety and quality. Additionally, the project engineering shall ensure that all designed meet the client specifications. /li liProduces (with the help of the CAD dept where necessary) and utilizes all engineering drawings and other engineering deliverables necessary to construct the project including PID, fabrication, BOM, OM manual, FAT documents, and vendor drawings. /li liDevelops RFQ/MR, solicits quotations from qualified vendors, evaluates quotations and reports recommendation to the assigned Project Manager or supervisor. /li liGenerates and processes equipment and electrical/controls (in conjunction with the Electrical, Instrument and Controls Engineer) purchase orders and follows-up on delivery of items. Coordinates orders and deliveries with mechanical, electrical and structural fabrication vendors. Responsible for drafting a CAR or NCR documents as needed for assigned projects. /li liSupervises and monitors equipment fabrication including system modules, equipment enclosures, tanks, chemical process vessels, etc.; documents results of equipment inspection and testing through written reports and photos. /li liSchedules equipment shipping including shipping between vendors and to customer. /li liPerforms field equipment startup, commissioning and prepares all logs/records/reports to document the process and results. /li liCommunicates project status through project reports, meeting minutes, action lists and all other required communications. /li liMaintains awareness of technical developments in assigned areas. Recommends new products or improved sources for goods and services to the supervisor or Project manager. /li liAdheres to Fuel Tech policies, procedures, safety plans and assigned goals. /li liPerforms the job in a safe and responsible manner; abides by all laws, codes and site-specific work rules; and strives to exceed the client’s expectations. /li /ul h3Supervisory Responsibilities /h3 pThis position does not directly supervise other Fuel Tech employees and is based on self‑direction. /p h3Technical Skills Required /h3 ul liKnowledge: Demonstrable knowledge of engineering tools and methods. and operations. /li liKnowledgeable of pumps, valves, instrumentation, electrical equipment and controls. /li liKnowledgeable of the Requires knowledge of boiler plant work practices and experience with engineering projects. /li liKnowledgeable of power plant or industrial equipment process industry standards and safety codes, e.g. AWS D1.1, ASME B31., NFPA 85 and UBC. Exposure and/or demonstrated proficiency with hydraulic pipe modeling software such as AFT and/or Flow of Fluids. /li /ul h3Abilities /h3 pWorks with moderate supervision and oversight, develops engineering drawings and BOMs. Applies good engineering principles to solve design problems. Demonstrates attention to detail and can develop and articulate design concepts graphically and verbally. Prioritizes and plans work activities within assigned project scope. Understands and is able to discuss moderately complex project scope and schedule as provided by the Sales or the Project Manager. /p h3Skills /h3 pReads, analyzes and interprets technical data and information. Planning and organization skills. Good computer skills. Writes reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. General mechanical, electrical and construction proficiency. Presents information and responds to questions from peers, clients and vendors. /p h3Travel Requirements /h3 pTravel (20%), but may involve extended periods of two weeks in the field and/or international travel to support critical outage projects with extended work hours on occasion.
