The Mission
In our international team of multidisciplinary squads and be part of building the next-generation banking applications in the Daily Banking tribe. As a Senior Java Engineer, you will play a crucial role in developing scalable, resilient, and real-time banking processes, providing near real-time information to millions of ING savings account holders in the Netherlands. This is a unique opportunity to work on the technical backbone of our front-end Lit applications and Java API's, which are used by millions of customers across various channels.\n
Your day to day
- Develop backend solutions using technologies such as Kotlin, Java, Spring, Maven, Azure, Prisma, Kafka\n
- Drive (test) automation, continuous delivery, and deployment using tools like Azure DevOps, SonarQube, Fortify, OpenShift, and Kubernetes;
\n
- Take ownership and be responsible for refining, coding, testing, and deploying your work in on-premise and cloud environments;
\n
- Lead development experience is a plus;
\n
- Solve technical and functional challenges with self-motivation and an itch for innovation;
\n
- Collaborate in multidisciplinary teams and embrace an agile way of working.
\n
What you bring to the team
- Strong proficiency in backend software development, with a proven track record (6+ years);
\n
- Thorough understanding of (test) automation, continuous delivery, and deployment tools and pipelines;
\n
- DevOps mindset with the ability to refine, code, test, and deploy your own work;
\n
- Strong analytical skills and conceptual/architectural understanding;
\n
- Interest and vision in recent trends in software development and technology;
\n
- Excellent social and communication skills, being a sparring partner for business colleagues.
\n
- Experience with AI‑assisted development workflows (GitHub Copilot, pair‑coding with LLMs) and a strong “vibe coding ” mindset for fast, clean implementation.
\n
- Strong prompt‑engineering skills to generate high-quality code, tests, and documentation through AI tools.
\n
- Ability to maintain development flow and optimize productivity through AI‑enhanced coding practices.
