Ph3Overview /h3 pIFOM is an internationally recognized non-profit cancer research institute supported by the Italian Association for Cancer Research (AIRC) based in Milan within a highly dynamic urban environment. IFOM's continuous success is ensured by the recruitment of highly selected undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate researchers from over 24 countries worldwide. IFOM is hosted within a research campus shared with the European Institute of Oncology and the Italian Institute of Technology. The candidate will operate within the laboratory of Prof. Bardelli, full professor at the University of Turin and scientific director of IFOM institute in Milan. The Bardelli’s laboratory is a dynamic and multidisciplinary group encompassing computational biologists, biotechnologists and physicians with extensive national and international collaborations. /p h3Responsibilities /h3 pOur research focuses on identifying novel therapeutic opportunities for patients with colorectal cancer. In particular, we aim to: /p ul liTest the hypothesis that therapeutic inactivation of DNA repair pathways in cancer cells can be exploited for patient benefit by reawakening anti-tumor immune responses. /li liCharacterize tumor evolution and cancer cell plasticity to identify novel vulnerabilities and therapeutic strategies aimed at preventing tumor recurrence. /li /ul pThe candidate will work in close collaboration with wet-lab researchers, providing computational support and contributing to both collaborative and independent research projects. The candidate will develop and implement custom computational methods and analytical pipelines to address these research objectives, leveraging innovative data-driven and quantitative approaches. /p h3Qualifications /h3 ul liWide experience in the analysis of next-generation sequencing (NGS) data; experience in the analysis of other “omics” data types is a plus. Strong background in cancer biology, with demonstrated experience in translational or biomedical research contexts; /li liSolid knowledge of statistics and applied mathematical methods for data analysis; /li liStrong programming skills (e.g. Python, R, Bash; experience with C/C++ or similar languages is a plus); /li liHigh confidence in Linux-based systems, including command-line environments; /li liFamiliarity with tools for workflow management and versioning (Snakemake, Nextflow, conda, git, docker, etc); /li liPrevious usage and/or development of methods for machine learning and artificial intelligence; /li liExperience in managing computational infrastructures, including servers and/or HPC environments (e.g. job schedulers, resource management, storage systems); /li liBasic to intermediate knowledge of IT infrastructure and security best practices (user management, access control, data protection, backups, compliance with data governance policies); /li /ul h3Education /h3 pPhD in bioinformatics, computational biology, computer science, applied mathematics, data science, engineering (computer engineering, biomedical engineering) or in a closely related quantitative discipline within life sciences (Biology, Biological Science, …). /p h3Languages /h3 pProficiency in English, with strong written and verbal communication skills. /p h3Soft Skills /h3 ul liProven ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams bridging biology, computation, and clinical research; /li liFlexible, problem-solving–oriented mindset, with the ability to adapt to changing project requirements; /li liExcellent project management skills, including coordination of computational analyses across multiple projects; /li liGood interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills, with a strong aptitude for independent responsibility and technical leadership. /li /ul h3What we offer /h3 pInternational work environment; continuous training; flextime; relocation cost support; Guest house inside the Campus; Agreements with discounts for Gym, Pharmacy, Psychology service and various shops around IFOM area; bar and canteen inside the campus lunch benefit; Company Nursery; Medical Service; Laptop; Caf service- tax declaration; Lab G: it is a lab specifically designed for pregnant or breastfeeding women researchers. /p h3Type of contract /h3 pPermanent contract, full time /p h3Location /h3 pIf you are interested in this opportunity, please send your CV with a list of publications, a letter of interest and contact information with at least two references (name, address, email and phone number) to: /p pThis job advertisement is addressed to both genders in accordance with Laws 903/77 and 125/91 and to individuals of all ages and nationalities in accordance with Legislative Decrees 215/03 and 216/03. /p pDisclaimer privacy /p pENG - Article 13 of the EU Regulation 2016/679: We inform you that the archiving and processing of data referring to you are carried out by IFOM - Istituto Fondazione di Oncologia Molecolare ETS to perform the recruitment process.
