Amazon Leo is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive and develop departmental continuous improvement initiatives and support implementation.
* Operate environmental test chambers (Thermal cycling, vacuum, HALT/HASS.) and lead process work, reviewing output for quality and adherence to standards and procedures.
* Assemble tooling and assist with equipment maintenance.
* Lead daily team meeting facilitation, end-of-shift reporting, and coordinate efforts to minimize production interruptions.
* Support new-hire training programs within your department and contribute to development and modification of training programs. Develop training plans for your team and implement training programs within your department.
* Drive safety standards and operations protocol while ensuring team compliance.
Export Control Requirement

A day in the life
The Lead Space Simulation Technician will identify process improvements to improve build efficiency. You will work closely with multiple engineering teams on both early hardware development testing and setting the stage for later production hardware manufacturing processes. The successful candidate thrives in a fast paced, start-up like environment and is able to apply their technical expertise, leadership skills and commitment to quality to positively impact team metrics and organization goals. To be successful you need to be highly motivated and detail oriented while showing the highest standards of execution.
About the team
We are a group of Technicians with well over 20 years of diverse skills and experience. Each team member brings in willingness to train and positive team energy. Some tasks you may be an individual contributor, but may also work in a group environment to achieve organizational goals. This group of Technicians thrived in success by working as a team. We are currently in research and development but moving towards production environment.
Basic Qualifications
* High school diploma or equivalent
* 3+ years relevant high traceability manufacturing experience (Aerospace / Medical, etc.)
* 3+ years of hands‑on work in test lab environment, using basic hand tools
* 3+ years experience in a fast‑paced production environment with Flight Hardware
* Minimum 3 years of environmental test experience performing at least one of the following:
o Vibration Testing
o Shock Testing
o Acoustic Testing
o Thermal Testing
o Thermal Vacuum Testing
Preferred Qualifications
* 3+ years prior leadership experience, to include leading teams, projects or people
* Experience bringing teams and processes from development to production
* Able to read, interpret and work from engineering documentation and/or drawings
* Experience working with FOD, ESD sensitive hardware and clean room requirements
* Ability to rapidly change roles/responsibilities while working in a high‑paced, challenging work environment
* Ability to prioritize work in a complex, fast‑paced environment
* Proper use and understanding of DMM, torque wrenches, calipers, and other type of measuring devices
* Experience installing instrumentation such as accelerometers, thermocouples, etc.
* Understanding of 5S and lean principles
