Progettista Meccanico di Sistemi Tecnologici e Sensoristici Integrati
RINA is currently recruiting in its office in Roma within the Mechanical and Materials Engineering Division.
Mission
The ideal candidate is a senior mechanical designer with a solid background in the design and development of mechanical systems supporting in-line quality inspection solutions of the products, as well as in the integration of servo-assisted mechanical systems with electronic devices and sensors.
Key Accountabilities
Design and develop complex mechanical systems for advanced industrial applications, with a focus on challenging environments requiring high precision, durability, and integration with electronics and sensors.
Independently define innovative solutions in terms of materials, geometries, and smart engineering approaches, ensuring lightweight, compact, and robust designs.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (electronic engineering, software, automation, and data science) to ensure effective integration of mechanical systems with advanced sensors (optical, thermal, laser, ultrasound, etc.) and embedded electronic systems.
Optimize designs to ensure electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), thermal dissipation, vibration isolation, and environmental protection (IP rating, shock, vibration, temperature, humidity, corrosion).
Perform structural and feasibility analyses, and validation tests to ensure compliance with required performance and standards.
Prepare detailed technical documentation, including 2D/3D drawings, material specifications, and bills of materials.
Support prototyping, testing, and industrialization phases, contributing to the continuous improvement of designed solutions.
Education
Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Studies
Qualifications
Proven experience in designing mechanical systems for complex industrial environments, with a particular focus on quality inspection systems and advanced sensor technologies.
In-depth knowledge of advanced materials (alloys, composites, technical polymers) and their applications in demanding industrial contexts.
Knowledge of mechanical design principles and proficiency in structural sizing using analytical methods of structural mechanics and machine design.
Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, Creo, CATIA or equivalent) and simulation tools for FEM and CFD.
Skills in design for additive manufacturing and traditional machining processes (CNC, molding, die casting, etc.).
Experience in thermal optimization, vibration isolation, and EMC-compliant design.
Problem‐solving skills for complex problems with an inventive and innovation‐oriented approach.
Excellent ability to work independently and make strategic design decisions.
