La Spezia, Italy TXT e-Search is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer for the Aerospace & Defence Business Unit. The selected candidate will work at our client's site in the defense sector. They will be part of a team, consisting of both TXT and client colleagues, developing drivers for FPGA control. Primary Responsibilities: Managing hardware map requirements; Implementing core functionalities of custom hardware using C language; Integrating and testing various drivers. Technical Skills Required: At least 4 years of experience in embedded development using C, especially for low-level platforms (bare-metal or RTOS); Driver development for FPGA interfacing, managing custom peripherals, and communication protocols with FPGA, with knowledge of AMD-Xilinx or Intel-Altera tool suites; Experience with software configuration management tools (e.g., Git, SVN), including Git workflows, merge requests, and branching; Debugging skills on embedded targets, using tools like oscilloscopes, JTAG, serial interfaces, Lauterbach, Segger J-Link, etc.; Experience with cross-compiled development environments (toolchains, linker scripts), such as Microblaze, NIOS II, ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V, or custom microcontrollers. Optional Technical Skills: Knowledge of RTOS (FreeRTOS, Zephyr, ThreadX); Assembly language experience for microcontrollers; Knowledge of FPGA systems and synthesis tools (Vivado, Quartus, Libero); Experience with embedded communication buses: SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, AXI, APB; Real-time performance analysis and optimization; Experience with CI/CD tools for embedded systems (Buildroot, Yocto, Jenkins); Experience in safety-critical environments (ISO 26262, DO-178C, IEC 61508); Ability to work in Agile/Scrum environments; Knowledge of IBM ToolChain (Rhapsody, DOORS). Educational Background: Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Robotics, Automation, Telecommunications, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields.
