UNESCO, through the Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC), is offering a part‐time consultancy opportunity for the position of Junior Environmental Educator / Junior Ocean Literacy Consultant at the SEA BEYOND Ocean Literacy Centre in Venice, Italy.
This role aims to support the daily delivery of educational and outreach activities at the Centre, which focuses on promoting understanding of the ocean's influence on people and people's influence on the ocean, while encouraging responsible action toward marine sustainability. The assignment is part of the United Nations Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development (2021–2030).
The selected candidate will deliver workshops and guided visits for schools, youth, and the general public, simplify ocean science concepts into engaging educational content, and support the day‐to‐day operation of the Centre. The consultant will also help organize educational spaces, maintain learning materials, and contribute to the development of innovative learning experiences.

Eligibility Criteria
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Marine Sciences, Marine Biology, Oceanography, Environmental Sciences or a closely related field focused on ocean topics
1 to 3 years of relevant professional experience in Education, Outreach, Communication, Ocean‐related public engagement
Strong demonstrated interest in ocean literacy and sustainability
Excellent communication and public speaking skills
Fluency in both Italian and English at C1–C2 level
Knowledge of another UN language is a strong asset
Preferred experience in Environmental education, Museums or learning centres, NGOs
Ability to work effectively with children and youth xivgfpx audiences
Creative storytelling and educational delivery skills
Familiarity with web tools such as CMS platforms
Knowledge of the UN system, SDGs, and the Ocean Decade is an advantage
