Mission
The role is within the Electromagnetic Environmental Effects (E3) team, which is a part of the Structure Systems Tech. area group within the Engineering & Innovation Directorate. The role is, under the supervision of a E3 Chief Project and Subject Matter Expert, to support new design and certification activities in the frame of E3 discipline mainly dealing with Intra-system Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC), HIRF (High Intensity Radiated Field) and IEL (Indirect Effect of Lightning) for both new type designs and modifications to already certified LHD products.
Responsibilities
* Support the E3 qualification and certification of equipment and systems, from the technical specification and qualification test plan definition to the witnessing of the tests at international qualified labs.
* Perform E3 Certification Test activities on Helicopter or organize and then technical supervise their execution by external Testing Laboratories.
* Cooperate with other technical areas like Avionic System Engineering and Development / Electrical Installations / Electrical Systems / Airframes, to reach a concurrent E3 design showing compliance HIRF/IEL requirements at Helicopter Level.
* Generate E3 Test Plans/Report for each single sub-discipline to support the certification activities.
* Support the E3 design and certification activities at aircraft level by exploit numerical simulation.
Qualifications
Hard skills
* Master Degree in Telecommunication Engineering or Electrical / Electronic.
* A basic background in E3/ EMC including basic knowledge of Radio Frequency Energy coupling mechanisms.
* Basic Knowledge on Antennas and Propagation Theory.
* Basic experience of creating and editing project documentations (Minute of meeting, progress report, some experience in develop engineering technical documentation).
* Competence in data entry, analysis, visualization and report preparation using standard software applications i.e. Microsoft Office Word & Excel.
* Basic skills in Computer Aided Electromagnetic simulation (CST preferable, Ansys HFSS, Altair Feko).
* Fluent in English both spoken and written (B2, level Upper intermediate).
Soft skills
* Basic skills to own problems and provide pragmatic solutions to engineering problems.
* Ability to communicate equally across multi-functional and multi-geographical teams, and with colleagues at all levels.
* Ability to take a proactive approach on your project, and in dealing with day-to-day tasks.
* Ability to take a proactive approach on the use of simulation tool to explore their maximum capabilities, scalability and efficiency.
* Analytical abilities and problem-solving, with a keen attention to details.
Nice to have
* PHD in Applied Electromagnetic or an Experimental Master Thesis on a project carried out by using EM simulation approach.
* Proven ability to manage complex tasks in a structured way (sub-task splitting, task planning, external dependencies, priority definition).
* Basic Knowledge of Signal Theory.
* Knowledge of aerospace standards, e.g. DO-160, DEF STAN 59-411, MIL STD 461.
* Familiarity with aerospace guidance material e.g. ED-81/AC20-136, ED-107/AC20-158, ED-13.
