The role reports directly to the Maintenance & Reliability Leader. The Automation Specialist will develop and implement strategies for the industrial automation operating systems of the site to optimize resource utilization and increase the reliability of production lines. This role also involves executing corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance activities for automation and instrumentation, ensuring optimal performance, minimizing unplanned downtimes, and maintaining safety compliance.
Responsibilities:
* Design, develop, and improve strategies for automated industrial processes, systems, and components.
* Ensure high reliability of all automation systems on the industrial site.
* Troubleshoot, diagnose, and repair automation systems to reduce unscheduled downtimes.
* Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on automation systems.
* Collaborate with other departments to ensure system reliability, standardization, and safety.
* Support suppliers during field visits and scope definition.
* Manage automation maintenance plans in coordination with Electrical Reliability SME and Reliability Program Owner.
* Plan maintenance, operational, and safety tasks, including resource and spare parts management, and prepare technical specifications for procurement.
* Analyze system performance and recommend upgrades or modifications.
* Develop and maintain technical documentation for automation systems.
* Work with Electrical Specialists to monitor component/software obsolescence and develop spare parts strategies.
* Participate actively in continuous improvement initiatives such as RCA and Kaizen.
Qualifications:
* High technical education in automation of production processes.
* Background in Engineering, Electrical, Automation, Computer Science, or similar fields.
* 3–5 years of experience as an Automation Specialist/Engineer.
* Strong understanding of computer programming and software development.
* Knowledge of electrical diagrams.
* Problem-solving orientation.
* Languages: English required; German is a plus.
