Provision of IT Support services for the development and operation of the local IT environments for the project SuFiA (JRC.D.2)Collaboration with the Directorate D ICT Team to manage and develop ICT centralized serviceInstallation, configuration and maintenance of servers' operating systemsPerforming minor (patching) and major Operating System upgrades as requested, in compliance with the Commission IT security policies and best practicesPerforming preliminary diagnosis of software and hardware problems, also in co‐ordination with the central IT departmentsScripting & configurations in context of systems & infrastructure; install, configure and maintain system scripting proceduresHandling of backups and restore operations of systems & infrastructure; manage the specific SuFiA backup infrastructureAdministration of scientific users in line with JRC ICT policiesMonitoring of and responding to system and application logs (error logs, disk checks, virus‐malware checks)Maintaining technical documentationProvision of capacity planning analysis. Performing tuning activities when requiredOn demand restore customer files from the backup systemMaintain and monitor the storage systems (log analysis to ensure availability and correct performance)Keep up to date the managed asset inventoryCoordinate with the JRC IT services for the provisioning of users, hardware, network connectivity and softwareCoordinate with JRC Helpdesk for the central IT service requestsProvide first level/second level user support to a community of about 20 usersInstall, configure and maintain workstation's operating systems (Windows and Linux). Perform Minor (patching) and Major Operating system upgrades as requestedAdminister Linux servers for: data gathering from external providers; databases; web applications. IT environment includes DBMS PostgreSQL, Docker, Apache, LiferayCollaborate with other members of the ICT team to maintain and manage PostgreSQL centralized infrastructureInteraction with the business analysts, customer, users, project leaders and the developersSecurity administration and monitoring, in adherence to the security rules imposed by the Commission's central security service (complemented by local rules where needed); under supervision of the LISO (Local Information Security Officer).
Requirements
B2 level of English minimum. Any level of French is considered an asset.At least 5 years of specific expertise in Linux system administrationAt least 5 years of specific expertise in containerisation tools: Docker, KubernetesExperience in Windows system administrationDemonstrated experience in script programming (bash)Experience with Liferay (optional)Very good knowledge of Ubuntu LinuxVery good knowledge of Container management with Docker and Docker swarm management, pipeline, CI/CD, Gitlab server managementVery good knowledge of WildFlyVery good knowledge of monitoring toolsGood experience with data backup/restore tools and practices for both database and operating systemsGood knowledge of Web ServersGood knowledge of virtualisation tools and techniquesGood knowledge of TCP/IP network managementKnowledge of master‐slave database concept (PostgreSQL)Knowledge on AnsibleAbility to do basic scripting for automationBasic knowledge of application development environmentsAbility to draft basic conception documents, diagrams and reportsAnalysis and problem solving skillsAbility to participate in technical meetings and good communication skills
