Role Description
The Lay Centre's Resident Assistant supports the residential, academic, and community life of The Lay Centre, serving as a first point of contact for residents, helping to foster a welcoming and respectful community, and assisting with day-to-day operations.
Responsibilities
* Collaborate with the Director and the Community Life Coordinator in overseeing and supporting all activities related to the residential community.
* Maintain a visible, approachable, and supportive presence within the residence to foster a hospitable and respectful community environment.
* Welcome new residents and guests, and assist with their orientation to The Lay Centre and life in the residence.
* Support and accompany internal community services, including liturgical celebrations and the prayer life of the community.
* Respond appropriately and professionally to resident concerns.
* Serve as a designated point of reference in emergency situations, addressing minor issues directly and promptly referring more serious matters to the Operations Manager or the Director in accordance with established procedures.
* Assist with practical tasks related to the planning and organization of internal and external events.
Qualifications
* A university degree and demonstrated professional experience in a field related to the mission of The Lay Centre are highly desirable;.
* Graduate students are encouraged to apply.
* Fluency in English is essential, while knowledge of Italian is highly desirable.
* Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Italy, as demonstrated by possession of a European passport, a student permesso di soggiorno, or a valid Italian work permit.

* A willingness to understand and support the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church, and, in that sense, to assume an active role in the community.
* Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to develop and foster relationships within an international context.
* Excellent interpersonal and written communication skills.

Working Conditions
This is a part-time position of 20 hours per week. Although most of the work will be performed during afternoons/evenings, the candidate should be open to have a flexible work schedule and availability to be "on call" during some weekends and holidays. The work schedule may vary at different times during the academic year. A willingness to work at The Lay Centre for at least two years will be appreciated. Salary and benefits will be commensurate with market standards.
