The Group has more than 1,800 employees located in 18 production facilities across Europe, North America and Asia.We are looking for a Junior 3D Metrology Technician to join our team. The selected candidate will be responsible for dimensional inspections and measurement activities on mechanical components using precision instruments such as structured light scanners and Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMM).
Main Responsibilities
Perform 3D scanning of high-precision mechanical components
Carry out dimensional measurements and inspections
Prepare parts for scanning (targets, surface preparation, positioning)
Perform CAD vs. scan comparisons
Detailed analysis and interpretation of 2D technical drawings
Verification of dimensional and geometric tolerances
Use of CAD software and measuring instruments (SolidWorks, PCDMIS, Atos/G-Inspect/Z-Inspect, calipers, micrometers, etc.)
Develop Python programs for measurement automation and data analysis
Prepare technical reports in Italian and English
Support production and quality departments in resolving dimensional issues
Ensure measurement traceability
Supervisory ResponsibilitiesThis position does not include supervision of other team members.
Education/Experience/Skills
High school diploma in Mechanical Engineering, ITS with a specialization in mechanics, Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent qualification/experience
No prior experience in the role is required; on-the-job training will be provided
Knowledge of the English language required (B2/C1 level)
Knowledge of technical drawings and tolerances (datum, linear, and geometric tolerances)
Ability to read and interpret 2D/3D technical drawings
Basic knowledge of measuring instruments
Proficiency in using CAD software (preferably SolidWorks)
Python programming skills (even at beginner level, to be developed over time)
Experience in the use of 3D scanners
Use of 3D metrology software (e.g. GOM Inspect, PolyWorks, Geomagic Control X)
Ability to prepare complete scanning and inspection reports
Strong willingness to learn
Ability to work independently
Proactivity and attention to detail
Passion for mechanics and metrology
Good communication skills
Work EnvironmentThis job operates in both an office environment and a manufacturing environment. The role routinely uses standard office equipment, such as computers and phones. The individual will be required to adhere to safety policies and procedures on the manufacturing floor.
Physical DemandWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25-30 kg. Position Type/Expected Hours of WorkThis is a full-time position, Monday through Friday 8am to 17.30pm, with additional hours as business needs necessitate.
TravelOccasional overseas and domestic travel may be required to support the rapid growth of the company.
