Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations and the leading UN agency in the field of migration. It works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non‐governmental partners to promote humane and orderly migration by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.Organizational Context and ScopeUnder the overall supervision of the Director of the Climate Action Division (CAD) and direct supervision of the Chief of CMIL, the Senior Project Associate (Climate Mobility Innovation Lab) will support the implementation, coordination, programme communications, monitoring, and reporting of CMIL activities in the Mediterranean and globally. The role involves close collaboration with IOM Italy, relevant units at Headquarters, Regional Offices, and project partners, as well as with IOM Media and Communications teams.Responsibilities

Support the implementation of the CMIL communication activities, contributing to project visibility, stakeholder engagement, and dissemination of project results.Contribute to the preparation of key messaging and communication materials to present CMIL's work, results, and policy relevance to diverse audiences.Assist in the planning, coordination and monitoring of CMIL activities, in line with workplans, donor requirements, and IOM procedures; monitor progress against the results matrix and flag issues as needed to support timely and quality delivery (including but not limited to stakeholder mapping, Innovation Committee establishment, Communities of Practice, adaptation pilots, training programmes).Contribute to multistakeholder engagement, liaising with government partners, academic institutions, civil society, youth networks, private sector actors, and regional/international organizations to facilitate inclusive participation in CMIL processes.Support the organization of public events and their visibility, including through interview facilitation with beneficiaries and other persons relevant to CMIL communications needs.Support CMIL programme communications by liaising with relevant Media Communication colleagues at HQ, regional and country levels (including but not limited to Rome, Bangkok and Nairobi offices) to promote visibility of key activities, milestones, and results, in line with CMIL messaging and donor communication requirements.Draft and disseminate, in close coordination with relevant Media and Communications colleagues, public information and visibility products on CMIL's work (audio, visual, written, and verbal), including capturing and editing images and video clips highlighting context and activities.Support the creation and maintenance of digital content for IOM platforms, including social media and websites in coordination with relevant Media and Communications colleagues.Participate in and support consultations, workshops, trainings, and peer‐learning events, including logistical preparation, contribute to agenda development, coordination of speakers, and documentation of outcomes as appropriate.Draft and compile reports and knowledge products, including project reports, case studies, policy briefs, technical notes, and communication materials, maintaining accuracy, clarity, and alignment with CMIL and donor standards.Support media outreach and engagement, including drafting press releases, media briefs, talking points, and interview materials, in coordination with relevant Media and Communications colleagues.Perform other related duties as assigned.

QualificationsEducation

High School diploma with six years of relevant experience; or,Bachelor's degree in Political or Social Sciences, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with four years of relevant professional experience.

Experience

Proven experience supporting project implementation, preferably in climate change, migration, development, or humanitarian programming.Experience in stakeholder engagement and coordination with government entities, academic institutions, civil society, or international organizations.Experience in project communications, knowledge management, and visibility, including the development and dissemination of public information and visibility products.Experience organizing workshops, trainings, and multistakeholder consultations.Experience in data collection, research, and knowledge production (policy briefs, reports, case studies, etc.).Familiarity with IOM project and financial management, PRIMA, and donor reporting is an advantage.Experience working in multi‐cultural and multi‐disciplinary teams.

Skills

Good understanding of climate change, disaster risk reduction, or climate mobility.Working knowledge of project management and UN/donor procedures.Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.Excellent drafting and communication skills.Ability to analyse and synthesize technical information.

LanguagesAll IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish). For this position, fluency in English and Italian (oral and written) is required. Additional UN languages, especially French, Arabic and Chinese, are an asset. Proficiency of language(s) required will be specifically evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.Values
