Gathering lots of user data, on a multinational level, as well as operating at the intersection of public and private domains, requires careful handling of data and adherence to strict regulatory frameworks around data privacy. This is where you and your deep subject-matter expertise come in.
About the role
As a member of Sanoma's Security & Privacy team, you main focus will be to drive the implementation of privacy policies and supporting systems at Sanoma Learning, in close collaboration with both business and technology teams, information security experts as well as Sanoma Group's overarching Data Privacy office (DPO).
As a subject-matter expert, you will:
* Advise senior management on privacy requirements and their legal implications around compliance
* Provide training and educate colleagues on the relevant aspects of privacy
* Ensure overall awareness in the organisation on regulatory developments
* Support creation and negotiation on data privacy agreements (DPAs)
* Provide guidance in the event of potential data breaches and lead
As a 'Competency lead', you will also:
* Be responsible for leading and enabling the Sanoma Learning operational privacy team (currently consisting of 3 FTE's)
* Support the team members' professional development
* Maintain a productive relation with management and Group DPO
Participating in the collaboration between private and public parties in the educational sector is included in the dynamics of this role. Being successful in these dynamics require the capabilities of building and maintaining a network with relevant stakeholders for this area.
Formal Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in Law
* As this is a senior role, we are looking for a professional with 5+ years of relevant working experience (experience with people management is considered a significant plus)
* Knowledgeable about relevant laws (GDPR, e-Privacy Directive, EU AI Act) and being able to translate these into practical guidance
* Experience in carrying out privacy assessment (strong plus if exposure to AI domain)
* Experience in interacting with data protection authorities and experience with privacy in the educational sector are considered a plus.
* Relevant certificates like CIPP-E, CIPT, CIPM or equivalent
* Strong professional communication in English, both verbally and in writing

* Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, able to influence and communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical audiences, including senior leadership
* Passionate about balancing between digital technologies (AI, user data, analytics) and safeguarding data subject rights
* Ability to work in an in an international context, appreciating cultural differences adapting your approach accordingly
