The Scan Engine team is part of the Central R&D organization reporting to the company CTO. Role Mission: Responsible for designing and validating electronic subsystems and PCB assembly of innovative imaging products, called scan engines, which are miniaturized cameras for barcode reading capable of reading labels from a few centimeters up to 10, 20 meters, or more. The HW Engineer will handle the implementation of hardware including complex logic/digital solutions implemented in FPGA. Key Responsibilities: Design HW subsystems for new products, involving digital and analog hardware for miniaturized cameras; create electrical schematics and advise on physical layout. Define FPGA architecture and requirements; translate system needs into FPGA specifications; design, code in VHDL, simulate, and synthesize digital systems; develop testing strategies for FPGA functions related to image sensors and autofocus features. Create reusable FPGA IP for multiple products. Select components for PCB design, considering product requirements; use simulation tools and datasheets; prototype and characterize PCBA behavior. Define product requirements for new scan engines; verify performance and functionality of subsystems and entire scan engine. Test designed subsystems under environmental stresses; verify EMC compliance, collaborating with Quality & Regulatory departments. Prepare technical reports on HW validation; contribute to technical reviews of new product development projects. Collaborate closely with system engineers, software engineers, and departments like Manufacturing, Procurement, and Quality. Maintain existing product hardware, troubleshoot issues, and extend product lifecycle. Skills and Competencies: At least 2 years of experience in digital design and embedded systems. Experience designing, simulating, and synthesizing logic circuits in programmable logic devices. Proficiency with lab equipment such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and analyzers.
