About this Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Technical Project Manager with a strong background in energy access in Africa, coupled with expertise in geographic information systems (GIS) and data science. The ideal candidate will lead complex, multi-stakeholder projects, coordinate technical and operational activities, and ensure successful delivery of results that support sustainable energy access and geospatial planning. As a key figure within our organization, you will blend project management expertise with a technical understanding of geospatial and data-driven solutions. This role demands experience working with governments and development partners to facilitate seamless project delivery. Your responsibilities will span across various facets, emphasizing project leadership, stakeholder engagement, and technical oversight.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of energy access projects with geospatial technologies.
- Act as the primary contact for VIDA's customers and partners, including governments and donors.
- Ensure clear documentation, reporting, and communication throughout project phases.
- Coordinate cross-functional efforts with VIDA's Data Solutions team and internal contributors.
- Translate partner needs into clear workplans and technical requirements.
- Facilitate workshops and meetings primarily for Francophone country engagements.
Requirements
- Master's degree in Energy, Environmental Science, Engineering, Geography, or related fields.
- 3-5 years of experience with energy access projects in Africa, governments, and donors.
- Strong project management skills with experience in multi-partner initiatives.
- Familiarity with GIS tools (e.g., QGIS, ArcGIS) and data analysis concepts.
- Experience with government agencies, regulators, and development partners in Africa.
- Fluency in French and English.
