Job Description
Weatherford is hiring a Tax Supervisor in Ortona. The Tax Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and ensuring compliance with corporate, employment, and VAT taxation matters for the assigned Weatherford Group of companies. The role involves preparing and reviewing external tax returns, managing tax audits, planning, and VAT. The Tax Supervisor provides advice to minimize business risks and maximize tax benefits. They also develop new processes and best practices to handle tax issues efficiently and in compliance with changing laws.
Roles & Responsibilities
* Provide tax support to the business and assist the tendering team with taxation aspects during bidding processes.
* Coordinate with external consultants for the preparation and review of Corporate Income Tax calculations and timely, accurate tax return filings.
* Handle corporate, employment, and VAT taxation matters for the Weatherford Group in Italy, Romania, Germany, NL, and Cyprus.
* Manage responses to tax enquiries, audits, and litigation, supporting external consultants and maintaining relationships with tax authorities. Educate the group on legislative changes and impacts.
* Implement tax planning strategies and support cash repatriation, managing related withholding tax obligations.
* Oversee outsourced tax work and manage necessary corrections with shared services.
* Review tax accounting processes for US GAAP, including tax rates, uncertain positions, audits, and account reconciliations.
* Analyze withholding taxes, especially for intercompany transactions across jurisdictions, ensuring proper declarations and documentation.
* Support employee taxes and assess permanent establishment risks.
* Collaborate with local finance teams for training and accurate tax accounting.
* Ensure compliance with transfer pricing regulations and assist with documentation.
* Work with project teams to identify tax risks, create PEs, and advise during project execution.
* Communicate with external advisors in various countries.
* Recommend process improvements based on legislative developments.
Experience & Education
* Degree in Economics, Accounting, or related field; CPA or advanced degree is a plus.
* 5-7 years of experience in a tax firm or multinational company's tax department.
* Proficiency in MS Excel; experience with OneSource is a plus.
* Self-motivated with strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
* Effective communicator, team player.
This role may require travel up to 10% domestically and internationally.
