This role focuses on a project engineer for national and international R&D projects and consultancies, related to ship electric load balance optimisation and to onboard power grid architecture modelling, simulation, performance assessment and grid management optimisation.
Responsibilities
Participate in national and international R&D projects focused on maritime electrification and power generation and distribution systems optimisation, in both naval and merchant ship fields.
Develop consultancies and projects related to modelling, simulation, performance assessment and grid management optimisation of innovative marine power systems (MV/LV - AC/DC architectures, high frequency drives/generators, innovative converters).
Support and participate in experimental measures on board ships to validate simulation models.
Contribute to CETENA (and Fincantieri Group) activities of technical development, within funded projects, also interacting with international partners.
Contribute to the growth of CETENA’s network of partners and stakeholders in the field of innovation for maritime sector electrification.
Issue reports related to research, innovation and consultancy projects.
Contribute to the industrialisation of the results of research projects.
Identify new opportunities and prepare new proposals in the framework of European, international, and national R&D programmes.
Requirements
Degree in Electrical Engineering (or Naval Engineering with a PhD in Electrical Engineering) with focus on electric grids, energy storage systems, smart grids, modelling, simulation and optimisation of power systems.
Technical competencies
Use of DigSilent / PowerFactory and/or Matlab/Simulink.
Excellent reporting skills, both verbal and written.
PhD in Electrical Engineering is a plus.
Experience in electric experimental measures is a plus.
Fluency in English and Italian.
