Overview

Please, only apply if you have a valid Attorney at Law license and are authorized to practise law by the Regulation Authority in Italy.

AirAdvisor, we are dedicated to ensuring air travelers receive the compensation they are entitled to for flight disruptions. We focus on protecting air passenger rights globally and are expanding our presence in the EU, UK, and other international markets.

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Litigation Lawyer specializing in consumer flight claims to lead in-court collections and manage legal matters in Italy. This role may involve establishing a boutique law firm in Italy. Pre-court collections are managed by a team of paralegals.


Responsibilities

* Act as the legal representative of AirAdvisor in Italy, handling all legal matters and claims filed within the jurisdiction.
* Prepare and file batches of approximately 200+ new legal claims monthly in Italian courts against various airlines for:
o Compensation under EU Regulation 261/2004 (flight delays, cancellations, denied boarding)
o Reimbursement of out-of-pocket expenses incurred by passengers (EU261/2004, and/or Montreal Convention)
o Ticket refunds owed to passengers under applicable legal frameworks
* Handle baggage-related claims under the Montreal Convention (lost, delayed, and/or destroyed luggage) and Warsaw Convention where applicable.
* Respond comprehensively and assertively to airline defenses, lead enforcement of court judgments, and coordinate with enforcement authorities when necessary.
* Engage in court-led settlement negotiations and, where applicable, represent AirAdvisor’s interests in in-court settlements.
* Maintain complete and accurate legal case files, ensure compliance with Italian legal ethics, data protection, and professional standards.
* Conduct thorough legal research and comparative analysis to compile best practices for recurring issues in airline and consumer rights litigation.
* Stay informed about developments in consumer protection law, aviation regulations, EU regulations, and judicial precedents to provide updated legal advice and representation.
* Pursue legal remedies, including appeals, when decisions are unjust, and advocate for legislative changes when strategically feasible.
* Support the optimization and automation of claims management workflows, leveraging technology to improve efficiency and scale.
* Identify and propose new civil claims opportunities viable under Italian law with low-value, high-volume potential.
* Conduct cross-jurisdictional legal research across EU and UK markets to adapt precedents for Italy in complex claims.
* Represent AirAdvisor in local media and coordinate with PR to raise public awareness of consumer rights.
* Review and vet content as needed to help build local trust and authority.
* Advocate for passenger and consumer rights within the airline and travel industry.


Requirements

* A valid Attorney at Law license in Italy and professional liability insurance.
* A law degree from an accredited institution.
* Experience with small claims, consumer rights, or aviation law is a plus but not required.
* Knowledge of consumer protection laws and aviation regulations is a plus but not required.
* Proven track record of success in in-court collection.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to assess case merits, conduct legal research, and develop effective legal strategies.
* Ability to manage a caseload, prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and track statute of limitations.
* Experience in automating and standardizing claims management processes to scale quickly.
* Ability to work independently and be free from conflicts of interest to litigate against different airlines.

Job Type

Indefinite-term Service Agreement or a B2B Contract.


Recruitment process
