Join our dynamic team and become a critical guardian of technological infrastructure. As a Data Center Engineering Technician, you will help maintain the heartbeat of mission-critical technology infrastructure and contribute to achieving high uptime for global digital experiences.
Engineering Technicians are Amazon’s front line for hands-on electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting. You will maintain, operate, and troubleshoot data center facilities, including stand-by diesel generators and related fuel systems, three-phase electrical systems (switchgear, UPSs, PDUs, wet cell batteries and associated systems), CRAC, centrifugal chillers, cooling towers/water chemical systems, air handlers, pumps, and motors. AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, supporting all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continuous access for customers.
You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. You’ll collaborate with teams across AWS to uphold safety and security standards while delivering capacity at optimal cost, within an inclusive culture that encourages bold ideas and ownership.

Physical Requirements Willingness and ability to work in physical conditions with reasonable accommodations
Regularly lift and/or move up to 39 pounds independently
Participate in group lifts for 40+ pounds
Maintain balance and perform construction tasks while on a ladder
Regularly walk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, climb stairs, twist, bend, and lift objects
Work in an environment requiring provided ear protection
Role may require travel to facilities still under development and training until sites are fully operational
Essential Requirements Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed
Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until a facility is operational
Travel may vary based on business needs and site status
Key Responsibilities Perform daily building rounds to monitor and record information from electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment to ensure 24/7 reliability
Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical Power Management System (EPMS)
Assist in troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal SLAs
Perform rack installs and decommissioning within internal SLAs
Perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and repair of electrical and mechanical equipment
Prepare technical documentation to support the change management program
Monitor daily work requests, manage to resolution, and drive projects from conception to completion
Provide on-site support of contractors, subcontractors, and vendors; ensure work complies with practices, procedures, and local regulations
Shift schedules may vary by site; shifts can be up to 12 hours and may rotate; some locations have on-call rotations
Role may support more than one location/site
Experience and Qualifications Basic Qualifications
2+ years of experience with Microsoft Office products and applications
2+ years of electrical and mechanical experience
Ability to work a flexible schedule including days, nights, and/or weekends
Preferred Qualifications
Experience working in a data center or mission-critical facility (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility)
Associate or higher education in a related field
Experience with reading and writing procedures, technical documents, and engineering drawings

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Compensation includes sign-on payments and RSUs and will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and location.
