Role Overview
Hitachi Rail is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Mechanical System Engineer who thrives in a fast-paced environment. The successful candidate will perform various tasks within the Engineering Department. The position is based in PISTOIA - IT.
Key Responsibilities
* Support and coordinate during bid and project development of onboard systems' technical design
* Define conceptual solutions for onboard systems based on requirements and vehicle configuration
* Prepare system requirements specifications
* Analyze suppliers' technical proposals
* Check the technical description of systems
* Verify drawings/documents (Electrical, Mechanical, etc.) for installation and integration onboard
* Prepare/verify functional and performance test specifications
* Support during system type tests and onboard integration tests
* Conduct design reviews with clients and suppliers
Required Skills and Knowledge
* Degree in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering
* Basic knowledge of onboard systems design, applicable norms, power demand calculations, electrical and mechanical configurations, and main internal components
* Knowledge of regulations related to onboard railway systems
* Basic electrical and mechanical knowledge
* Familiarity with RAMS disciplines is advantageous
* Proficiency with office automation software (Word, Excel, etc.)
* Knowledge of electrical/mechanical design software (AutoCAD, Creo, Catia) and IBM DOORS is preferred
* Understanding of engineering processes and railway operations
* Ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels and contribute practical ideas
* Willingness to work in a collaborative, fast-paced, international environment
* Ability to work autonomously in teams and projects
* Availability for short-term national and international travel

Education/Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent technical background
Languages
Proficiency in written and spoken English is mandatory
