About the Role In this role you will be a Scala developer in our application platform development team. You will tackle technical challenges such as adapting the architecture of our systems to support strong customer growth and enhancing our value proposition. As a senior member, you will guide and support colleagues, helping with their technical and professional growth.
We look for pragmatic, action‑biased individuals who view mistakes as learning opportunities and see the entire software development lifecycle as their responsibility.
Your title will be Senior Software Engineer, and you will help us build a product our customers love and a great working environment.
Responsibilities
Own development, maintenance, and non‑functional aspects of core Moneyfarm systems such as trading and billing.
Continuously improve team processes.
Research and evaluate new approaches and technologies, demonstrating their value.
Mentor and support junior colleagues using your experience.
Work with the wider engineering team to define and evolve our system architecture.
Own production operation and non‑functional aspects of the systems you build.
Collaborate with the Engineering Lead and Product Manager to design upcoming projects.
Requirements
At least 7 years of commercial software engineering experience.
BA/BSc in Software Engineering or Computer Science is nice to have.
Proven track record of delivering projects successfully.
Experience in Scala (highly preferred). Java 8+, Kotlin, or functional programming are acceptable substitutes.
Experience with microservices architectures, event streaming, and cloud providers: Kafka, Kubernetes, AWS knowledge is a plus.
Good understanding of agile methodologies (Kanban/Lean) and their ceremonies.
Comfortable working in remote‑friendly, distributed teams.
Experience in financial services, particularly tooling for position keeping or middle office.
Fluency in English (written and spoken), Italian is a nice to have.
The position requires presence in the office (Milan or Cagliari) at least twice a week.
