Here at Amazon we are currently seeking experienced Operations Managers to join our Customer Fulfillment team at our Fulfillment Center in Dandenong South.
This is an excellent opportunity to be part of the AU Fulfillment Center (FC) leadership team during its phase of expansion and growth, where you get to define process flows and shape up standard work routines as the operations scale up.
As an Operations Manager, you’ll deliver inspiring, inclusive leadership for the teams you supervise and will get involved whenever necessary.
You will directly supervise a team of Area Managers and their direct reports, reporting to the Site Lead of your Fulfillment Center. Your leadership motivates teams to perform at high level while planning schedules and activities that balance team needs with business needs.
Another key aspect is coordinating process improvement projects to streamline activities. Ideas and innovation you propose may be rolled out across the Amazon network.
Shift pattern: 4 nights on and 3 nights off, working at least one weekend day (Wednesday to Saturday).
Key Job Responsibilities
- Maintain Health and Safety standards within your remit area and promote an inspiring Health and Safety culture on-site
- Become a subject matter expert on specific, larger-scale processes and activities within FCs
- In the inventory control and systems environment, handle timely data collection and update operations metrics hourly
- Achieve productivity targets, reduce cost per unit, eliminate errors and ensure a high-quality customer experience
- Work closely with other support teams (HR, Finance, Facilities, Safety and Security, IT) on staffing plans, schedules and performance levels
- Implement process change and contribute to cross-functional Six Sigma initiatives within your site and the broader Amazon Operations network
Basic Qualifications
- Previous experience in leading large, diverse teams
- Experience in employee and performance management
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Proven experience in a similar, innovative logistics, distribution or manufacturing environment
- Proven ability in establishing and carrying out root cause analysis, and extracting and analysing the data you generate
- Work a flexible shift/work area, which may include days/nights and at least one day from the weekend
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain or a related field
- Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
- Experience managing contingent workforce in a business with peak season
- Experience with performance metrics, process improvement and Lean techniques
- Knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Kaizen methodologies would be highly advantageous
