The business is undergoing a significant digital transformation across its industrial and production environments, with a strong focus on Industrial IoT (IIoT), real-time data, and smart factory initiatives.
The Role
The organisation is seeking a Senior Solution Architect - IIoT Manufacturing to lead the design and delivery of scalable, event-driven digital manufacturing solutions.
This role sits within the Digital & Technology function and will play a key part in architecting end-to-end IIoT solutions across factory environments, integrating machines, systems, and cloud platforms to enable real-time insights and automation.
You will work closely with engineering teams, manufacturing stakeholders, and platform specialists to define architecture, guide implementation, and ensure scalable, high-performance solutions across multiple sites.
Key Responsibilities
Design and implement end-to-end IIoT and digital manufacturing architectures
Define and deliver event-driven architectures using technologies such as MQTT, Kafka, or similar
Lead integration of shopfloor systems including MES and industrial data platforms
Architect and deploy scalable cloud-based solutions across Azure or AWS environments
Integrate machine, sensor, and operational data into centralised platforms for analytics and monitoring
Work with cross-functional teams to translate manufacturing requirements into technical solutions
Drive best practices across architecture, scalability, security, and performance
Provide technical leadership and guidance to engineering and delivery teams
Support the rollout of IIoT platforms across multiple manufacturing sites
Required Skills & Experience
Proven experience as a Solution Architect within IIoT, manufacturing, or industrial environments
Strong expertise in event-driven architectures and integration patterns (e.g. MQTT, Kafka)
Hands-on experience building digital manufacturing or smart factory solutions
Experience working with MES (Manufacturing Execution Systems) and shopfloor integrations
Strong experience with at least one major cloud platform:
Azure: IoT Hub, Digital Twins, Stream Analytics, Data Factory, Container Apps, Power BI, Grafana
AWS: Greengrass, IoT SiteWise, Lambda, Kinesis, DynamoDB, QuickSight
Experience with IIoT platforms such as:
Siemens Insights Hub, Opcenter Intelligence, PTC ThingWorx, Litmus, or Cumulocity
Strong understanding of industrial data flows, real-time processing, and system integration
Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills
Fluent English (professional working proficiency)
Nice to Have
Experience deploying solutions across multiple international manufacturing sites
Exposure to edge computing and industrial connectivity solutions
Background in large-scale digital transformation programmes
Experience working in highly regulated or complex industrial environments
