The Material Handler responsibilities include, but may not be limited to,
- Understand the safety of the forklift and operate without compromise to those safety systems.
- Operate powered industrial vehicle to load and unload materials and move them to various areas around the plant.
- Loading and unloading steel tubing from truck deliveries
- Moving steel tubing packed on pallets or in crates around the plant
- Understand basic material flow within the organization and support production operations.
- Perform daily equipment checks on designated forklift vehicle
- Checking to ensure loads are secure
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
- At least one year of forklift driving experience
- High degree of attention required to prevent injury to others; promote a safe work environment
- Follow instructions for operating equipment
- Strong work ethic and reliable
- Fast learner and able to adapt to a fast-paced environment
- Self-directed individual
- High school diploma required
Preferred Skills:
- At least one year of forklift driving experience in a manufacturing setting
- Material handling and/or packaging experience
- Basic mathematical aptitude
- Positive Attitude, willingness to learn
- Strong mechanical abilities
Physical requirements:
- Regularly sitting on a powered industrial forklift vehicle
- Having good eye-hand-foot coordination
- Ability to assess weights and judge distances and heights
- Must be able to work standing, walking, bending, reaching, and stooping (Frequently)
- Must be able to lift to 20 pounds frequently and 50 pounds occasionally.
