PuPosition : /u Senior GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Analyst / GIS System Manager /p puLocation : /u Plummer, ID /p puJob Id : /u 2022.027R /p pbOpenings : /b 1 /p pSenior GIS (Geographic Information Systems) Analyst / GIS System Manager (GIS Analyst, GIS Systems Manager) /p puType : /u Permanent Full-time /p puClassification : /u Technical /p h3Summary /h3 pUnder the general direction of the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s GIS Manager, performs professional technical work in the acquisition and maintenance of digital data of high complexity. Work requires independent judgment in managing multiple priorities and in coordinating work activities to meet established schedules and goals. Duties include specific tasks within seven areas of responsibility : /p ol liGIS system and database design / creation and maintenance /li liProject coordination /li liClient services /li liGeo-spatial product production /li liUnmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) operations /li /ol pWorkload ranges from moderate to heavy. The scope of work is Tribal-wide, possibly extending to other tribal, state, and federal agencies, and the public. The environment is hierarchical, similar to tribal, federal, or military organizations. This position reports directly to the Tribe's IT / GIS Manager. Work involves both office and field activities, including weather-dependent outdoor work, vehicle travel, and occasional lifting of equipment up to 70 lbs. /p h3Duties and Responsibilities /h3 ul liCoordinate technical GIS projects, plan and organize work, report progress, and implement changes as needed. /li liDesign, create, and maintain the Tribe’s Enterprise GIS System, data, and software. /li liAssist in data backup and security, ensuring protection from malware. /li liManage enterprise GIS databases, including SQL Server and GIS-specific file databases. /li liAssess and procure new data needs. /li liPerform advanced raster and vector GIS analysis. /li liProduce high-quality maps, reports, and GIS products. /li liDevelop project-specific GIS applications or customize existing ones. /li liImplement quality control measures for projects and products. /li liProvide technical support to GIS staff and users. /li liDevelop and deliver GIS training sessions and present at workshops and conferences. /li liEvaluate new GIS technologies. /li liManage the Tribe’s UAS Program, including hardware, software, flight planning, and data processing. /li liAssist with GIS product recommendations and budget planning. /li liParticipate in staff recruitment and evaluation. /li liAttend professional development events. /li liManage grants related to GIS projects. /li liSupervise GIS team members in the absence of the GIS Manager. /li liPerform other related duties as assigned. /li /ul h3Qualifications /h3 ul liSupport the Coeur d’Alene Tribe’s vision, mission, and values. /li liComply with Tribal health policies, including vaccination requirements. /li liBachelor’s degree in GIS or a related field, with at least four years’ experience in GIS and enterprise database management; a total of six years’ relevant experience if combining education and work experience. /li liProficiency with Microsoft Windows Server and desktop OS. /li liKnowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, Esri Geodatabase, ArcGIS data models, and Esri software including ArcGIS Desktop and Enterprise. /li liExperience with GIS mobile applications and raster data management. /li liProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite. /li liStrong understanding of GIS principles, spatial analysis, remote sensing, and cartography. /li liKnowledge of GPS data collection and geospatial metadata standards. /li liExperience with CAD and graphic editing software such as Adobe Photoshop. /li liExperience with UAVs, including flight planning, data processing, and FAA regulations, with the ability to obtain FAA Part 107 certification. /li liKnowledge of habitat conservation, land management, and GIS applications in natural resources. /li liStrong research, communication, and problem-solving skills. /li liAbility to manage multiple projects and work independently and in teams. /li /ul pApplicants may undergo interviews and practical tests.
