The opportunityThe candidate will work in the research and development department of the global product group PCS (Power Conversion Systems) within Hitachi Energy's Grid Automation Business Unit. The R&D team is responsible for the power electronics converters development & control and automation logics relevant to Energy Storage, Photovoltaics, and Hybrid solutions. Being part of a global team, you will interact with stakeholders and operational units worldwide.Your focus will be on the modelling of Power Conversion Systems product portfolio (power electronics converters and power plant controller), with a focus on models' development, testing & validation in PSS/E simulation tool.How You'll Make An ImpactYou will leverage your extensive knowledge of modelling applied to Power Systems, Power Electronics and digital control techniques, being responsible for the PSS/E models development of the PCS product portfolio.Working with the R&D senior management, you will participate in defining and implementing the product modelling roadmap for PCS, supporting the model delivery and rollout of the models, including grid impact studies for execution projects.As part of the R&D team, you will interact with Product Management, external consultants, and internal customers worldwide.You will be responsible for PSS/E's simulation models development, testing and validation.You will handle documentation generation, version tracking and quality checks.You will provide training and support to PCS colleagues, customers, and consultants.Your BackgroundMaster's degree, preferably in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, with a focus on Power System stability and Power Electronics. A PhD in renewable energy grid integration with a focus on modelling & control aspects would be a plus.Minimum 5 years of experience in modelling and studying Power Systems and Power Electronics, using PSS/E. Tests automation and reporting is a must.Experience in DIgSILENT Power Factory & PSCAD is a plus.Excellent knowledge of Power System, Power Electronics and Control system modelling.Experience in executing Grid Impact Studies for renewable generation systems.Knowledge of Python, PyTest and simulation automation techniques is a plus.Solid presentation skills and fluency in English, both written and spoken.High awareness of quality, process and tool in related areas.Self‐motivated, independent, organized and structured way of working.Availability to travel globally (20-30% of the time).More About UsWe offer you the opportunity to work with fantastic people and develop yourself on projects that present great technical challenges and have a real impact.
