The WellFort Health Centre seeks a Dentist to join the Health n’ Smiles team. The Dentist will provide oral health care, including preventive care and patient education, and perform a variety of dental procedures such as diagnostic, restorative, crown‑and‑bridge, denture, endodontic, periodontal and preventive care. The clinician will also supervise and train staff and collaborate with other health professionals.
Responsibilities
* Perform complete oral examinations and formulate comprehensive treatment plans.
* Obtain consent from clients for treatment plans and provide hygiene instruction.
* Perform recall exams and cooperate with the hygiene team to ensure comprehensive oral health of clients.
* Carry out dental treatments, including diagnostic, restorative, crown‑and‑bridge, denture services, endodontic, periodontal, and preventive care.
* Execute universal precaution procedures for infection control.
* Prescribe antibiotics and administer local anesthetics.
* Fabricate dental prosthetic appliances individually or with the denturist.
* Consult with other health professionals as required for diagnosis and care planning.
* Participate in the development, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of treatment, education, counseling, and health promotion services for individuals, families, and the community.
* Provide services at outreach locations and maintain contact with physicians or other staff through telephone consultation as required by clinical protocols.
* Perform other duties as may be assigned.
Requirements
* Doctor of Dental Surgery, licensed and in good standing with the Royal College of Dental Surgeons of Ontario.
* Extensive experience in a large dental practice.
* Experience in a community dental clinic or public health environment (asset).
* Ability to work collaboratively with clients and staff in a community clinic.
* Strong technical, administrative, and interpersonal skills.
* Comfortable working in a values‑based organization.
* Supervisory or leadership experience (asset).
* Leadership and supervisory skills with individuals and interdisciplinary teams.
* Experience with word‑processing, spreadsheet, database applications, and Abeldent software (asset).
* Interest in community health or social services (asset).
* Experience working in a values‑based non‑profit or social services organization.
* Ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team.
* Proficiency in using computers and various software applications.
* Ability to speak languages relevant to the residents of the Peel region (asset).
* Consistent access to a vehicle for responsive care delivery at any care delivery location.
