Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. About this role This position serves as the primary operational resource to support ADSIPL within its owned and operated Data Centers in India. You’ll provide central ownership and accountability for the overall ‘hands‑on’ management of the Mechanical, Electrical (M&E) and across ADSIPL’s portfolio of Data Centers in India. Responsibilities include operation and maintenance of the critical infrastructure supporting IT operations, event, incident, problem, change, and cost/contract management, and relationship management with landlords, critical facility vendors, Data Center Construction and Operations teams, Technical Program Managers, Security, and Logistics in India. The role requires 24×7 on‑call, scheduled weekend support, and rotational shifts. Location will be discussed and may involve several Indian locations. Key job responsibilities Ownership of all Data Center changes, events, incidents, and problems from beginning to end, including post‑mortems, root cause analysis, and follow‑up actions. Plan and execute maintenance/repairs of site‑critical facility infrastructure. Asset and inventory management. Develop and maintain method statements, SOPs, emergency response procedures, preventive maintenance programs, and all technical documentation. Standardise and consistently apply best‑in‑class operating practices (technical writing and automation). Acquire deep knowledge of design intent, operational alternatives, and contingency plans for all Data Center systems. Manage engineering aspects related to financial and cost control, code and regulatory compliance, personnel management, and staff training and development. Health & safety, local statutory requirements, environmental and energy management. Develop and deliver regular engineering reports; ensure adherence to contracted deliverables, SLAs, and KPIs. Communicate operating philosophies, technical information, objectives, and expectations to Amazon personnel and vendor teams. Provide hands‑on facility support (installation, decommissioning, replacement, audits). Oversee technical compliance audits and timely close‑out of corrective action plans; perform annual operational reviews focused on Amazon standards and regulatory requirements. Develop and deliver the portfolio of Energy/Environmental Management Programs and keep abreast of industry innovation. Incident and Emergency Response Review incident reports, document trend summaries, and recommend actions to management. Manage information flow during incidents and provide regular updates to management. Coordinate with vendors to resolve incidents during emergency situations; may require on‑site dispatch. Basic Qualifications 1 years of data center or mission‑critical facilities experience (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility). Bachelor’s degree. High school diploma or equivalent. At least one year of experience in a technical field (EE, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering). Excellent understanding of mission‑critical systems (Data Centers, hospitals, power plants, military facilities). Self‑starter and independent worker who solves problems at their root, prioritises in a fast‑paced environment, and demonstrates good judgment under pressure. Vendor negotiation and management skills for Data Center and/or upgrade construction contracts. Ability to write accurate system documentation and issue‑tracking entries. Willingness to engage other support teams to drive resolution. Interest in staying current with industry standards, changes, and innovations. Preferred Qualifications 1 years of electrical or mechanical experience. At least one year of experience in Data Center operations and on‑call support for Data Center facilities. Excellent understanding of electrical systems in critical Data Center operations: utility substation feeds, transformers, switchgear, VFI Class UPS, DRUPS, PDUs, ATS, STS, SLA/VRLA batteries, diesel/gas turbine generators, surge suppression, active harmonic filtering, battery monitoring systems, branch circuit monitoring, SCADA systems. Excellent understanding of mechanical systems: CRAC/CRAHs/AHUs, chillers, cooling towers, storage tanks, chemical systems, heat exchangers, piping, pumps, valves, duct systems, fans, dampers, fire detection and suppression, plumbing and drainage, building monitoring systems, control systems. Familiarity with design, procurement, suitability, testing, and commissioning. Certifications such as PMP, Prince2, ITIL v2/3, BICSI, ASHRAE, CDCP/S/E or equivalents are viewed positively.
