The role is
mainly remote, with
occasional presence in Milan (~1 day per month), and is open to
freelance or contract-based collaboration, for professionals
based in Italy or Europe. You will be part of a strategic
Eventhub project
in a complex enterprise ecosystem and will continue supporting the platform
post go-live, with a strong focus on operational excellence and coordination.

Your missions Lead and mentor developers working on
Java-based, Kafka-driven event architectures Drive
integration projects
involving Kafka, APIs, and Change Data Capture (CDC) Collaborate with stakeholders to understand requirements and define technical solutions Coordinate and follow up technical onboarding activities across multiple platforms and teams Validate
Kafka events, schema evolution, and transformer logic
in production environments Administer and coordinate activities through
JIRA
(tickets, priorities, follow-ups) Ensure adherence to
coding standards, best practices, and quality assurance processes Perform code reviews and support development teams during implementation Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues in distributed, event-driven systems Act as a technical reference, promoting
continuous improvement and innovation
Your profile 5+ years of experience leading
integration projects
in
Java-based environments Strong hands-on expertise with: Kafka and event-driven architectures APIs (REST / GraphQL) Distributed systems and system integration Change Data Capture (CDC) concepts Proven experience in
technical leadership and mentoring Solid understanding of
code quality, testing strategies, and operational best practices Experience working in complex, international, enterprise environments Comfortable managing multiple stakeholders and parallel technical activities Fluent English (other European languages are a plus) Proactive, structured, and delivery-oriented mindset Nice to have: Kafka or Cloud certifications (AWS, Azure, GCP) Familiarity with security and compliance standards in large organizations
