Under general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the registered nurse uses the nursing process to safely coordinate total patient care and education for an assigned number of patients. Assignments to units are determined by patient census and current staffing levels, and reviewed on a shift-to-shift basis. The nurse will be assigned up to 40 hours per week and will rotate between day and night shifts as needed by the unit and staff. The nurse is expected to function within the scope of approved policies, procedures, and regulations for the department and organization. The nurse will assist with orientation, preceptorship, and management of personnel assigned to the unit. Must be able to work professionally with peers, physicians, administration, patients, and visitors. The nurse will document total care provided, review and maintain patient charts per policy, and assist with accurate and timely entry of patient data, orders, and charges into the computer system. The successful candidate will have to pass a pharmacology test for this position. Attendance at yearly mandatory education requirements is nonnegotiable and will be the responsibility of the employee to arrange and attend sessions. The RN will also work under the general supervision of the Ambulance Dept Head, using the Pre-Hospital and ACLS Process.
