Commissioning Engineer, AMER-Central ACx Job ID: 10402112 | Amazon Data Services, Inc. Are you experienced in Critical Infrastructure Commissioning and looking for a fast‑paced, collaborative environment? As a Data Center Commissioning Engineer (CxE), you will support vendors, contractors, and internal teams during the construction and commissioning of AWS data center systems. Your role focuses on testing, validation, and quality assurance of electrical, mechanical, and building infrastructure, ensuring compliance with design, safety, and environmental standards. Key Responsibilities
Review design documents, equipment submittals, and maintain oversight of AWS data center electrical and mechanical infrastructure. Lead Factory Witness Testing (FWT) and manage third‑party commissioning vendors during pre‑functional, functional, and integrated systems testing. Own project outcomes, deep dive to resolve technical issues, and proactively address schedule impacts and coordination demands onsite. Provide multi‑discipline input into scheduling, test script development, design, and planning of projects. Audit commissioning vendor activities to ensure compliance with environmental, quality, and safety requirements. Track and report commissioning progress and metrics to the Regional Commissioning Manager. Lead multiple projects simultaneously, manage project budgets, and drive program improvements through lessons learned.
Basic Qualifications
4+ years of industrial or commercial engineering in mission‑critical facilities (e.g., data centers, power generation, oil and gas). 4+ years of commissioning experience. 5+ years of engineering, installation, or startup/commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel). Experience researching new designs, technologies, and construction methods for data center equipment and facilities.
Preferred Qualifications
Professional Engineer License. Experience with building codes and regulations for your region. Experience carrying design concepts through exploration, development, and deployment or mass production. Experience reading, interpreting, and creating construction drawings, specifications, and submittal documents.
