Overview
Solutions Architect within Amazon Web Services (AWS) will help shape and deliver on a strategy to build mind share and broad use of Amazon’s cloud services within strategic accounts. You will own the technical engagement and the ultimate success around specific implementation projects, and develop a deep expertise in AWS technologies as well as broad know-how around how applications and services are constructed using the AWS platform. The ideal candidate will have customer-facing skills to represent Amazon well within a customer’s environment and drive discussions with senior personnel, along with a technical background to interact with software developers and architects. You should also be able to think strategically about business, product, and technical challenges.
As a Solutions Architect, you will have the opportunity to help build and deliver on strategies to drive adoption of AWS services within strategic accounts, including Amazon SimpleDB, Amazon S3, Amazon EC2, and Amazon SQS. You will own each technical engagement and help ensure timely and successful delivery of value. (Delivery of actual solutions to be done by AWS partners.)
Key job responsibilities
- Serve as a key technical member of the Business Development team in helping to ensure customer success in building applications and services on the AWS platform.
- Scope each customer engagement, with attention towards clear and well-defined objectives and success criteria.
- Own each technical engagement, and help ensure a timely and successful delivery of value. (delivery of actual solutions to be done by AWS partners)
- Capture and share best-practice knowledge amongst the solution architect community.
- Understand the AWS market segments, customer base, and industry verticals.

Basic Qualifications
- 4+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience
- 2+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience
- 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working within software development or Internet-related industries
- Experience migrating or transforming legacy customer solutions to the cloud
- Experience working with AWS technologies from a dev/ops perspective
