Our client, in the Petrochem Industry, is seeking a [Job Title] to join their team as a Responsible Care Manager.
Position Summary
The Responsible Care Manager is accountable for the oversight, direction, and leadership of the Responsible Care Department, which includes the following sub-functions: Health, Safety, Security, Environmental, and Quality (HSSEQ) and Process Safety. The manager is responsible for developing and implementing local Responsible Care strategy and policy, managing human, technical, and material resources within the department, and coordinating with other departments and the Global Manufacturing Responsible Care Team (GMRCT).
The Responsible Care Manager is an active member of the Plant Management Team (PMT) and Site Management Team (SMT), contributing to the overall success and achievement of site-specific objectives and organizational effectiveness. Success is measured through leadership, employee development, and the ability to provide world-class HSSEQ and Process Safety services and programs in alignment with corporate and local policies, standards, and procedures.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead Responsible Care resources to achieve plant and corporate HSSEQ targets safely and cost-effectively.
* Develop and implement systems to ensure safe work practices for employees and contractors.
* Monitor work procedures and practices, initiating improvements to enhance Responsible Care performance.
* Ensure compliance with all applicable HSSEQ regulations and initiate necessary actions for compliance.
* Support Responsible Care audits and ensure follow-up on improvements.
* Generate reports and data as required by government agencies.
* Develop and train teams to respond effectively to emergency situations.
* Identify and execute continuous improvement opportunities to reduce risks.
* Represent the company in industry initiatives and associations such as CAER, LCA, GBRIA, OEP, CAP.
* Analyze Responsible Care performance data and implement corrective actions.
* Contribute to capital planning for HSSEQ improvements.
* Manage departmental budgets within approved limits.
* Ensure departmental compliance with policies, standards, and procedures.
* Maintain ACC Responsible Care certification at Geismar.
* Lead by example to foster a strong Responsible Care culture.
* Participate actively in the Plant and Site Management Teams.
* Ensure all incidents are handled competently to minimize harm.
* Collaborate with project teams during turnarounds and outages to develop and execute Responsible Care plans.
* Support global engineering, technology, and project initiatives.
* Work with operational and technical departments to assess risks associated with manufacturing changes.
* Participate in the Global Manufacturing Responsible Care Team (GMRCT).
Qualifications
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Science from an accredited institution.
* Minimum of 10 years of manufacturing plant or EHS experience.
* Preferably 5+ years of management experience in manufacturing or EHS industries.
* Deep knowledge of standards, policies, and procedures related to HSSEQ and PSM.
* Strong leadership, communication, and employee motivation skills.
* Excellent planning, organization, and problem-solving abilities.
* Proficiency in common computer applications.
