About the role
As an Expert in Italian Old masters and Modern art, you will be closely involved with evaluating and arranging lots submitted by our users. Using your expert knowledge in Italian artworks, you will be responsible for creating attractive auctions every week. Catawiki strives to keep user transactions as transparent and fair as possible, and your expertise and experience play a large part in maintaining this standard; you know better than anyone what items are of interest to our users.
You will review lot titles, descriptions, lot pictures, and provide users with an estimated value based on this information. If you need to reject a submission, you do so in a professional and courteous manner. Your efforts result in exceptional auctions that bidders will find irresistible.
Finally, you’ll also be working together with our sales team and proactively review seller segments, assist team members in onboarding high potential leads and upselling existing sellers.
What you’ll do
* Appraise and estimate Italian works of art (paintings and drawings from XVIIth to mid. XXth century) in direct contact with sellers.
* Creating attractive action every week
* Source artworks from high potential sellers in Italy
* Onboard high potential leads in collaboration with Sales team
What you'll bring
* +3 years of experience as an expert/curator in the expertise in the Italian Art field
* Strong negotiation skills to effectively communicate with art dealers, galleries, and other stakeholders, aiming to secure favorable deals and acquisitions.
* Excellent English communication
* Documented commercial experience
* Great computer skills necessary
* Italian art market network
* You are a natural team player and thrive in a diverse team environment
* An affinity for numbers and analyzing auction results is a plus!
Where you’ll be
The role is based in Italy with a work from home arrangement.
