About GradientZero & The ENIGMA Project We're building a fully automated crypto trading system leveraging advanced analytics, machine learning, and hybrid quantum computing. After successful algorithm development for hedge funds, we're now focused on cryptocurrency markets as part of our broader ENIGMA Project - a comprehensive multi-asset trading initiative spanning forex, equities, options, and digital assets.
The Role As a quantitative researcher, you will join the team of the ENIGMA Project. While this position primarily focuses on cryptocurrency markets, you'll have the opportunity to work on other asset classes within the project if desired. We're seeking exceptional quantitative researchers (PhD level) for a demanding but rewarding startup environment within GradientZero. This position is ideal for mathematically rigorous thinkers who excel in independent research and innovative problem-solving. You will:
Design and implement sophisticated statistical models with rigorous mathematical foundations Independently formulate and test complex trading hypotheses using advanced statistical methods Develop novel algorithms for spot and derivatives crypto markets Apply Bayesian methods, time series analysis, and machine learning to market data Opportunity to contribute to multi-asset strategies across forex, equities, and options markets
Essential Requirements PhD in Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or related quantitative field (this requirement is firm due to the mathematical complexity of our work) Strong expertise in advanced statistical inference and mathematical modeling Proficiency in Python Experience with independent research and self-directed problem-solving Enthusiasm for startup environments and delivering impactful results
Preferred Qualifications Experience with financial modeling and high-frequency trading Knowledge of cryptocurrency markets and blockchain technology Background in Bayesian methods and market microstructure
Contract Structure This is a freelance consulting position offering flexibility in how and where you work. We have an office in Padova, Italy, which provides several advantages for quantitative research: immediate access to whiteboarding for complex mathematical discussions, seamless collaboration on algorithm development, shared access to high-performance computing resources, and the focused environment that intensive research often requires. While remote work is welcome, the office space is available whenever direct collaboration would be beneficial.
