OverviewThe Spare Parts Engineering Team Lead oversees a dedicated team responsible for the end-to-end management of Spare Parts throughout their lifecycle. This position plays a pivotal role in ensuring Spare Parts are readily available, meet technical specifications, perform optimally, and align with original product designs, ultimately supporting product longevity and customer satisfaction. Serving as the primary technical authority on Spare Parts matters, the Spare Parts Team Lead acts as a liaison among customers, after-sales service, R&D, engineering, production, and supply chain functions. You will be charged with driving operational excellence in areas such as Spare Parts coding, catalog management, lifecycle optimization, and stakeholder collaboration, while ensuring adherence to corporate standards for quality, compliance, and sustainability.

Responsibilities

Spare Parts Creation & BOM Engineering

Oversee collection and validation of technical drawings, specifications and compliance requirements, in collaboration with R&D and sourcing teams

Direct the creation, maintenance, and approval of BOMs within PLM system

SAP configuration for production settings and procurement standards

Ensure data integrity (costs, weight, dimensions, physical attributes) across platforms

Establish change management procedures including code revisions and software updates

Catalog & Digital Tools Management

Manage the maintenance and accuracy of Spare Parts catalogs across multiple platforms including Excel tools, dashboards, SalesForce Service Cloud, and official ABB catalogs

Oversee the creation of exploded views and service BOMs to enhance clarity

Develop and maintain Spare Parts Selectors and specialized tools within SalesForce

Ensure consistency and accessibility of Spare Parts data for internal and external

Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement

Establish and maintain effective communication channels with cross-functional teams including R&D, Quality, Sourcing, Supply Chain, Customer Support, and IT

Coordinate feedback collection from Field Service, Quality, and Key Account Managers to trigger Spare Parts product improvements

Provide periodic updates to stakeholders regarding new spare parts releases, catalog changes, part dismissals, and PCN distribution

Organize and lead quarterly review meetings with main internal customers to ensure understanding of part functions and compatibility and gather feedback

Spare Parts Lifecycle & Portfolio Optimization

Lead and maintain the strategic categorization of Spare Parts to enable risk-based inventory management

Develop automation rules and release protocols for Spare Parts lists, considering scope, stock ownership, and product coverage

Oversee end-of-life management, component obsolescence, supply chain shortages, and technical/commercial PCN coordination. Conduct technical research to identify compatible alternatives and mitigate supply chain disruptions

Drive sustainability initiatives through obsolete stock recovery and repair strategies

Technical Support, Quality Assurance & Traceability

Oversee technical support activities on Service Cloud, including part identification, escalated cases resolution and support request analysis via email and Jira portals

Design, implement, and maintain KPIs for escalated cases and support metrics to monitor team performance and identify improvement opportunities

Collaborate with Quality team to define inspection protocols, testing procedures, and traceability requirements via batch or serial numbers

Manage recall communications and processes for rework activities to fix quality issues

Team Leadership, Strategic Direction & Continuous Improvement

Lead, mentor, and develop the Spare Parts Engineering team, fostering a culture of technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement

Define team objectives, KPIs, and performance metrics aligned with organizational goals

Allocate resources effectively and distribute workload to meet business priorities

Identify opportunities for process automation, standardization, and efficiency gains

Drive strategic initiatives and digital transformation leveraging PLM, SAP, and other enterprise systems for spare parts lifecycle optimization

Your background

Degree in Engineering (Electronichs, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial) or equivalent

3 years of experience in spare parts or after-sales management roles, preferably in the E-Mobility sector or in a manufacturing context, high-tech products

Good understanding of Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) and supply chain processes

Customer-oriented and problem-solving mindset

Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels

Analytical and synthesis skills, with the ability to translate complex technical requirements into practical solutions

Advanced knowledge of Excel; familiarity with ERP systems and PLM is an advantage

Proactive, detail-oriented, and continuous improvement mindset

Excellent knowledge of Italian and English (written and spoken)
