We are the global team responsible for building the HV infrastructure that powers Amazon's cloud business. As a Construction Project Manager you will be part of a highly creative, efficient team tasked with tackling fascinating and challenging problems building and delivering HV infrastructure assets. Your work will help deliver HV infrastructure projects at scale. The role will be based in Milan, Italy. The Construction Project Manager is ultimately responsible for the oversight and review of all disciplines including civil, electrical, mechanical, controls, and architectural. The Construction Project Manager will be a leader within cross‑functional teams and drive delivery of your assigned projects through the execution stage. /p h3Key job responsibilities /h3 ul liConstruction project management and oversight of construction activities as they relate to new substation and transmission line projects in Italy. Ownership of the project scope, timeline, and budget. /li liDirect interface with construction general contractors during bidding, award, execution, and project closeout/punch list phases. /li liWork with general contractors and vendors to deliver efficient and high‑quality project turn‑overs in line with electrical utility requirements. /li liLead negotiations with general contractors and evaluate bids/proposals with detail and accuracy. /li liCreation of construction project scope and request for proposals. /li liConstruction submittal review. /li liConstruction project quality control including the creation of a commissioning plan and support of the commissioning process. /li liBe a leader within the group as well as within internal and external teams that support the data center. /li liConcurrently managing multiple projects. /li liRecording and reporting key metrics to team members and senior management. /li liCapital requests/financial analysis of construction work including change orders, purchase orders, and invoicing. /li liOversee construction project quality control including the creation of a commissioning plan and support of the commissioning process. /li liDrive teams to perform troubleshooting and root‑cause failure analysis associated with equipment or electrical failures. /li liNegotiating easements/wayleaves with land owners, utilities, etc. /li liValue engineering: reduce costs through creative solutions with no impact on quality and reliability. /li liTravel to sites for leadership walk‑downs, audits, inspections, start‑up testing, and full commissioning. /li liTravel to other sites in the EMEA region up to 40% of time. /li /ul h3Basic Qualifications /h3 ul li7+ years of recent experience in construction management of large, complex projects involving large‑scale mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) plants. /li liDemonstrated understanding of electrical engineering principles including breaker coordination studies and switchgear sequence of operation. /li liDemonstrated understanding of mechanical engineering principles for cooling systems. /li liDemonstrated contractor and vendor management experience (request for proposals, bidding, change orders) associated with construction and project execution. /li liExperience directly related to the design and construction of HV substations or large‑scale mechanical and electrical plants. /li /ul h3Preferred Qualifications /h3 ul liExperience with large‑scale technical operations, mission‑critical mechanical/electrical infrastructure, or large‑scale compute farms. /li liExperience dealing with location‑specific electrical utility providers. /li liExperience of risk and change management through procurement, delivery and handover of design and build projects. /li liExperience of leading contract and commercial negotiations and administration of design and build projects. /li liBachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Construction Management or an equivalent engineering science OR 4+ years of related construction management experience in lieu of a degree. /li /ul pAmazon is an equal opportunities employer.
