The Company
We are partnering with Italy's first and only unicorn, where engineering has driven the business since 2019. In seven years it has become Southern Europe's BNPL leader and raised a $500 million Series B that still stands as the largest in Italian tech history.
The platform powers checkout for retailers and travel brands including Mango, Nike, Booking and Lastminute. Twelve million consumers, €2 billion in 2025 volume, a regulated payment institution licence, and a cap table that includes the investors behind Stripe and Spotify.
The company is now strengthening its engineering team ahead of a major expansion of the consumer product suite, with new partnerships shipping alongside Visa and a major European bank.
The Opportunity
The company is investing across its consumer products. The B2C group builds the products customers use directly: a new charge card, a paid membership and rewards product, consumer lending, and the mobile experience that ties them together.
These are payment systems, so they have to be correct every single time. They integrate with payment networks and banking partners and must meet PCI-DSS requirements. Several of these products are early in their build, so the architecture decisions made now will hold for years.
You would join a B2C engineering group of around 25 people and work alongside the Leads for Card, Club, Lending and Mobile, close to the co-founder CTO on architecture and roadmap. The exact product area is flexible and matched to your strengths. Total engineering is around 85 people in a company of 200.
What You'll Own
Technical direction within your product area: architecture, interfaces, partner integrations, data model.
Product features end to end, from design through to live and supported.
RESTful APIs that connect partners, payment networks and the core platform.
Security, fraud prevention and PCI-DSS compliance for everything that touches payment data.
The technical bar of the team. Mentoring, reviewing, and setting the standard others work to. Close work with Product, Risk, Payments and Infrastructure when the architecture decisions are made.
How You'll Work
AI-assisted engineering is core here. The team uses AI tools every day to design, build and review. We expect you to already work this way. The company provides a Claude license with unlimited usage, so you have the tooling from day one.
The Tech Stack
Node.Js, PostgreSQL, AWS, Kafka, microservices, PCI-DSS across payment data, and AI development tooling (Claude Code).
Location & Setup
Fully remote within Italy, Spain or France. Office optional in Milan, Barcelona or Paris. Right to work in IT, ES or FR required. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Final Thoughts
If your career has been about systems where errors are caught in tests, this is a move into engineering where errors are caught by customers. The standard is higher, and so is the impact.
