The Senior R&D Automation Software Engineer is responsible for automation project development, designing reliable products meeting customer and regulatory standards. This position is based on-site in Belgium within the Upstream and Fluid Management R&D organization. Our vision is to advance therapeutics from discovery to delivery. In this role, you will: Create PLC and HMI software based on requirements, using Cytiva libraries and guidelines. Develop and review automation requirements aligned with customer needs and regulations. Execute automation functions, including documentation, risk assessment, verification, cybersecurity, and related tasks, with coordination and oversight. Collaborate globally to develop software, connect with team members empathetically, motivate, and ensure compliance with design controls and regulations. Communicate development progress effectively to project teams and stakeholders, ensuring automation requirements are addressed. Essential requirements: Several years of relevant experience and a Bachelor's degree in Automation or Software Engineering; Master’s preferred. Experience in developing automation software (PLC/HMI, Siemens TIA Portal, PCS7) and familiarity with emerging technologies (AI, MTP). Understanding of industry standards (GAMP5, 21CFR11, ISA-88, IEC-62443) and working in regulated environments. Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively across a global team.
